Maren Morris Shares How Discovering Celebrities on Raya Boosted Her Confidence in Dating Again
Maren Morris has re-entered the dating scene “for the first time”since her divorce from Ryan Hurd, which she discussed in the Wednesday, September 25, episode of Armchair Expert. The award-winning singer revealed to hosts Dax Shepard and Monica Padman her experiences with dating following her divorce, which was finalized in January 2024:
“I’m dating again—dating for the first time, truly.”
When Shepard asked if Morris was using the dating app Raya, she confirmed her presence on the platform. The Parenthood star then requested to view her profile. Additionally, he asked if she had come across any celebrities on the app, to which she responded:
“Yeah, a few times. It’s kind of shocked me. And it makes me feel better too because there’s such vulnerability of being like, ‘Here’s the buffet of options today that I’m a part of.’ It made me feel better knowing that this person was on there too.”
Raya is a premium dating app favored by celebrities due to its rigorous vetting process, where sharing screenshots of profiles is prohibited. Notable figures like Channing Tatum, Cara Delevingne, Harry Styles, John Mayer, and Ruby Rose are among those who have used the app.

During her segment on the Armchair Expert podcast, Maren Morris elaborated on the complexities of returning to dating, particularly with children in the equation. She conveyed her thoughts to the podcast host:

The celebrated singer mentioned that her journey through the “interesting”world of dating apps has taught her more about herself. She likened using the app to “a job interview,”noting that she “feels better”when she sees acquaintances on Raya, as she has come across some friends there.
Describing her dating life as “nothing serious,”Morris admitted it’s still “fun to have a crush.”Although she didn’t disclose any current crushes during the interview, dating rumors have recently circulated regarding Maren and Netflix reality star Justin Assada after he posted a photo of her enjoying a cocktail in his Instagram Story earlier this month.
