Marathon Major Patch This Week: Key Updates and Upcoming In-Game Currency Adjustments

Marathon’s Launch Weekend: An Overview

Marathon has officially launched on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series, marking its first weekend in the gaming arena. Developer Bungie is actively addressing player feedback and technical issues as they delve into the expansive world of Tau Ceti IV.

Upcoming Major Update

The first significant update for Marathon is anticipated to roll out this week, focusing on enhancements that players have spotlighted during their gameplay experiences. One of the critical improvements is the expansion of the objective visibility radius for contract objectives. Players will soon have a visibility range extended to 20 meters, doubling the previously restrictive 10 meters. This change aims to alleviate the frustration some players have faced when trying to locate specific terminals hidden within the game’s intricacies.

Once the update is implemented, players should find it easier to track their contract objectives without compromising the game’s core exploration elements that Bungie aimed to foster with the original 10-meter design.

Additional Enhancements

In addition to the improved visibility for objectives, the update will introduce two more noteworthy changes: an increase in the number of medical cabinets and munitions crates available on the Perimeter map, as well as enhancements to base ammunition in MIDA, CyberAcme, and Arachne sponsored kits. These adjustments aim to improve player accessibility to supplies throughout the gaming landscape.

Addressing Microtransaction Concerns

Bungie has also been attentive to player feedback regarding the existing microtransaction system. They have confirmed that adjustments are forthcoming but will not be included in the immediate update. One of the notable changes involves increasing the amount of LUX, the game’s premium currency, included in the $10 LUX bundle—from 1, 100 to 1, 120. While this increment may seem minor, Bungie assures players who have already purchased the previous LUX bundle will receive an additional 20 LUX as a gesture of goodwill.

Bungie stated, “We’ve seen your feedback about Marathon’s purchasable cosmetics. We want to ensure that when you invest in Marathon, you feel you are receiving exceptional value and are examining ways to enhance this experience.”

Sales Performance and Player Response

Before its launch, Marathon was projected to sell 250K copies on Steam. While it hasn’t surpassed 100K concurrent players just yet, it remains among the top-selling games on Steam with an impressive ‘Very Positive’ rating in user reviews. The game has made a promising entrance into the market, and with Bungie’s ongoing engagement with its community, it is poised for continued growth.
