Marat Grigorian shares unique trick on how he weathers heavy strikes mid-fight: “I’m just talking to myself”

Despite being the current second-ranked featherweight kickboxing contender in ONE Championship and having previously challenged for the ONE world title, Marat Grigorian of Armenia is well-versed in competing at the top echelons of kickboxing.

Grigorian has faced some of the toughest opponents in the sport and has encountered his fair share of challenges.

The 32-year-old representative of Hemmers Gym has devised a distinct method for handling opponents with strong punches. In moments of being dominated during a fight, he motivates himself with a pep talk in the ring.

In a recent interview with Sportsmanor, Grigorian discusses how having an internal conversation with himself motivates him and brings out his best performance.

The kickboxing legend from Armenia stated:

“In my head, I’m just sometimes talking to myself. When I hit some punches, or when I get hit, I tell myself, ‘Is this all? I want more, I want more’. I want to do more, I want to punch harder and get back.”
