Marat Grigorian keen to test himself in Regian Eersel’s lightweight domain: “Everything is possible”

Marat Grigorian, a world-renowned kickboxing champion, is eager to expand his reach and compete on the international platform of ONE Championship.

The Armenian fighter, known for his explosive striking, will face off against Superbon in the ONE Friday Fights 58 for the interim featherweight kickboxing title. He recently shared his plans to move up in weight class and test his skills against other top kickboxers in the ONE organization.

Despite facing strong competition in the 155-pound division, moving up in weight class would allow him to compete against other strikers with unique skill sets. This could potentially result in a showdown against two-sport champion Regian Eersel in the future.

During a recent interview with Sportsmanor, Marat Grigorian stated:

“Everything is possible, why not? We talked already about that, moving up to lightweight with my coach. But now the only focus is on Superbon. That’s the only thing what goes around in my head.”

Despite potentially sacrificing his reach and height advantage, the Hemmers Gym affiliate is not one to shy away from challenges.

His high-octane kickboxing style has consistently posed a challenge for fellow world champions, making him a formidable opponent in any match. This has remained true throughout his time with the ONE banner.

At the age of 32, he has achieved a remarkable record of 4 wins and 2 losses, with his only defeats being against Superbon and Chingiz Allazov in world championship matches.

Marat Grigorian seeks redemption against Superbon at ONE Friday Fights 58

Marat Grigorian is confident that he has devised the perfect gameplan to defeat his longtime rival in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 58.

Nevertheless, the featherweight kickboxing contender ranked No. 2 is aware that he will face a tough test from the division’s top-ranked star, especially considering the possibility of a rematch against Chingiz Allazov for both fighters if they win the interim title at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

On Friday, April 5, ONE Championship will air Friday Fights 58 live on global pay-per-view at watch.onefc.com during prime time in Asia.
