On the second Tuesday of each month, Microsoft traditionally rolls out its Patch Tuesday updates, and yesterday was no exception. The latest updates are aimed at Windows 10 ESU devices and Windows 11, addressing several bugs that have been troubling users recently.
Enhancements in Windows 11 (Versions 24H2 and 25H2)
Recently, users reported an issue with the Task Manager duplicating its process when closed. Although these additional instances don’t significantly affect system resources, they can be bothersome. Microsoft acknowledged the problem and subsequently released a guide for users looking to implement a workaround. With the deployment of KB5068861 on Patch Tuesday, users can now easily rectify this bug without needing to follow complicated procedures.
Updates for Windows 10 (Extended Security Updates)

Despite being out of mainstream support, Windows 10 continues to receive essential security updates through the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program. In recent weeks, users have faced two notable issues. The first problem involved the enrollment wizard for Windows 10 ESU failing for devices that are eligible. Fortunately, this was addressed in an out-of-band update, KB5071959, rolled out yesterday, allowing users to seamlessly apply the update and reboot their devices to access the latest Patch Tuesday enhancements.
The second issue users encountered was an erroneous error message stating, “Your version of Windows has reached the end of support, ”impacting certain devices, including LTSC WeUs that remain supported. Microsoft has resolved this glitch with update KB5068781. If users opt not to install this patch, they will need to utilize the Known Issue Rollback (KIR) as explained here.
Windows Server 2025 Updates

Windows Server 2025 also experienced some bugs similar to Windows 10. The first issue pertained to server-side applications using HTTP.sys, which were struggling with incoming connections. The second issue involved failure in directory synchronization for Active Directory (AD) groups containing more than 10, 000 members. Both of these concerns have been addressed with the update KB5068861. Customers who choose not to install this update must again resort to KIR workarounds discussed earlier.
Overall, these updates not only enhance security but also improve user experience across Microsoft’s platforms. For a detailed overview of all significant bugs resolved during this Patch Tuesday, visit the full source here.
