Major Update in Ara: History Untold Enhances Economy Management, Introduces Mod Support, and More
Ara: History Untold’s Exciting First Major Update
Oxide Games has unveiled the first significant feature update for their 4X grand strategy game, Ara: History Untold. The newly launched Version 1.1, titled The Invisible Hand, brings a variety of enhancements and addresses player feedback, ultimately refining the user experience for strategy enthusiasts.
Introducing the National Economy Screen
One of the standout features introduced in this update is the National Economy Screen. This innovative tool enables players to gain quick insights into their nation’s resources and improvements, allowing for streamlined management by assigning experts and upgrading facilities directly from a single window. Gone are the days of laboriously navigating through each city for administrative tasks; the new screen consolidates these actions, enhancing the overall gameplay.
Automation Features for Streamlined Gameplay
In pursuit of reducing micromanagement, players now also have the option to automate specific tasks. As Brad Wardell, the creative director, states:
“The goal here is to let players quickly set up crafting projects, add supplies, and adjust harvesting options at a glance. Additionally, you can also set up policies that automate providing supplies to improvements to use, so dwellings can start utilizing furniture, lighting, or entertainment as soon as they’re available. This should help players focus on broader strategic matters rather than constant micromanagement.”
Introducing the Battle Viewer
The update also features a Battle Viewer, enhancing tactical insight by providing players with detailed analyses of unit interactions post-battle. This comprehensive feedback allows players to understand the mechanics behind their victories or defeats better.
Unit Upgrades and Strategic Depth
Moreover, players can now upgrade their military units, a much-anticipated addition. Wardell explains:
“This update allows players both to upgrade formations and reform units, making it possible to redeploy them elsewhere. More importantly, players can maintain a specific group of units, preserving their experience as they evolve, transforming from basic formations like Spearmen all the way to modern Infantry over time.”
Enhanced Modding Support and Additional Features
Another notable aspect of the Version 1.1 update is the introduction of modding support, now in its beta phase. Players have gained the ability to load custom files, allowing for game rule modifications, item creation, and various other customizations. Additional enhancements in this version include a wider variety of craftable amenities, a pre-made Earth map for gameplay, and the introduction of John A. Macdonald as a leader, amongst many other improvements.
