- Conan the Barbarian joins Mortal Kombat 1 as a new playable character.
- The update introduces a variety of gameplay enhancements and fixes, plus ray-tracing options for PC and PS5 Pro users.
Following the recent gameplay trailer featuring Conan the Barbarian, Mortal Kombat 1 has rolled out a significant update. This patch not only adds the iconic sword-wielding character but also includes numerous improvements, fixes, and new content. Currently, the game is navigating through its Khaos Reigns storyline, chronicling Liu Kang and his companions as they confront the Titan Havik in an alternate universe.
The 2023 soft reboot of Mortal Kombat has already seen the introduction of several legendary DLC characters. Alongside Conan, previous additions include Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, and Ghostface from the Scream franchise. Additionally, the T-1000 has been confirmed for future release, with series co-creator Ed Boon teasing the liquid metal assassin’s Fatality.
The newly implemented update allows players to explore Conan’s unique fighting style, modeled after Arnold Schwarzenegger’s portrayal from the 1982 film. Voices echoing Schwarzenegger’s persona are provided by Chris Cox, who reprises his role from Mortal Kombat 11. Players can expect a range of intense, sword-focused combat moves, showcasing both power and has a seamless integration into deadly combos.

Fans familiar with Conan’s lore will appreciate the Easter eggs integrated into his moveset, such as the homage to red Sonya Blade, a character parallel to Red Sonia, and his Animality featuring a Cimmerian bull, reflecting elements from his mythos. Furthermore, Conan’s Fatalities are crafted to be ruthlessly effective, showcasing visceral sword strikes and intense dismemberment, punctuated by dialogue reminiscent of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s archetypal characters.
This update encompasses a wide array of gameplay adjustments and enhancements. Notable changes include introducing fresh moves for characters like Kitana, Raiden, and Reiko, alongside revitalizations for Shang Tsung, Ermac, Ghostface, and others. A number of Kameo fighters have undergone refinements aimed at gameplay balance. Furthermore, new character skins have been rolled out, and ray-tracing functionality is now available for PC and PS5 Pro users, enhancing visual fidelity through improved reflections and intricate lighting effects. Specific resolutions for issues faced by the Nintendo Switch version have also been included.
While the possibility of new Kombat Packs remains uncertain, Mortal Kombat 1 continues to evolve, suggesting that players may discover more hidden features as the developers maintain support for this standout title in fighting game history.
