What’s New in MajorPrivacy 0.98.4 Beta?
The latest iteration of MajorPrivacy is meticulously designed to enhance reliability and responsiveness while introducing a variety of user-friendly improvements and essential security updates.
- The Kernel Isolator driver now features enhanced failsafe logic, significantly reducing the risk of rendering a system unusable due to configuration errors. It intelligently detects Safe Mode, allowing rules to be bypassed for easier recovery. Should three unsuccessful boot attempts occur, it will revert to the last known good configuration; after five failures, it will no longer load any rules.
- User interface enhancements have been implemented for faster and less error-prone interactions. New features include a Hold & Refresh button, an option to simplify the program view, and a program-item-missing event that detects moved binaries. Additionally, the traffic view now offers actions for blocking domains directly from the DNS filter and firewall. Default Windows firewall rules can be hidden alongside default Windows libraries, and the online updater facilitates future upgrades.
- The graphical user interface (GUI) has been optimized for multithreading, leading to a marked improvement in responsiveness while minimizing stalls. The Code Integrity verification mechanism has been revamped to store user-trusted hashes and certificates in the registry, rather than the previous configuration files. Users should note that signatures from earlier versions will require re-authorization post-upgrade.
- This release addresses numerous stability and functionality challenges: the BSOD issue linked to remote file systems is resolved; issues with the translation list not populating are fixed; and the summary page’s acceptance of firewall rule changes now functions reliably. Additional stability fixes include addressing resource leaks and rectifying bugs regarding image signature verification.
As you upgrade to this new version, be mindful of the signature storage changes—trusted signatures and certificates are now located in the registry, necessitating re-authorization for previously trusted files.
