Major Frostpunk 2 Update: Enhanced Camera Controls, Optimizations, and More Now Available

Today marks the rollout of the initial substantial update for the game, introducing significant enhancements to gameplay mechanics, visuals, and overall performance.

With the introduction of Update 1.1, players can expect more agile camera controls, along with the addition of edge scrolling and cursor locking features. Additionally, the Frostbreaking mechanic, which allows for the expansion of buildable zones, is now applicable to any cell, moving beyond previous connection limitations.

Improvements include the option to cancel construction mid-process, color-coded district boundaries for improved visual distinction, and more engaging Frostbreaking animations accompanied by visible nomads. Other quality-of-life enhancements are also part of this update. Players can now customize autosave settings, including the option to disable them completely. A more refined cartography interface and the highlighting of ongoing research on the Idea Tree also take center stage in this update.

This effort encompasses extensive optimizations along with refreshed DirectX libraries. The update also addresses numerous bug fixes, including one related to an audio stack overflow crash on macOS.

We encourage everyone who feels positively about these adjustments to share their thoughts.”
