Towerborne’s Major Update Enhances Gameplay Experience
In a collaborative effort, Xbox Game Studios and Stoic, the creators behind The Banner Saga, have rolled out Towerborne in Steam Early Access just a few months ago. This side-scrolling cooperative beat ’em up game embraces a live-service model, and today marks the arrival of its first significant content update, introducing a variety of highly awaited features.
New Features and Enhancements
Among the standout additions is the Group Finder, a feature that allows players to filter their search for teammates based on multiple criteria. This includes settings for location and danger level, ensuring players can effectively assemble a team tailored to their preferences.
“We aimed to deliver this feature to our players promptly,”stated the developer regarding this update. “Moving forward, we plan to incorporate further enhancements, including the option to browse available groups and select one to join. Anticipate a significant expansion of this feature in the upcoming months.”
Increased Challenges and Content
The update introduces Danger Level 5 map tiles, available for those who successfully conquer the latest license challenge. This update not only elevates the level cap to 50 but also showcases four new legendary weapons, each tailored for a specific class, alongside 12 legendary gear items obtainable from various tiles and bosses. Players can expect formidable enemies and an exciting new boss battle in these enhanced areas.
Additional Game Improvements
Furthermore, players will be joined by two new allies, Picus and Grimel, adding variety to combat encounters. The update also enhances gameplay through increased Aspect storage, a more streamlined Forge layout, the introduction of four new repeatable mission types, and a multitude of balance adjustments and bug fixes to improve overall game performance.
Availability and Future Plans
For those eager to dive into these new features, Towerborne is currently available on Steam in Early Access for $24.99. Looking ahead, an Xbox Series X|S version is set to launch on Game Pass in 2025, and the game will transition to a free-to-play model across all platforms upon its full release.
