Last March, Apple introduced its M3 MacBook Air series, and anticipation is building for the release of the next iteration, likely arriving in March of this year. According to a respected industry analyst, the upcoming MacBook Air featuring the next-generation M4 chip is set to launch no later than March. While the design will largely remain consistent with current models, the substantial enhancements delivered by the M4 chip are expected to be the standout feature of this upgrade.
Expectations for the M4 MacBook Air Release
In a recent edition of his Power On newsletter, analyst Mark Gurman confirmed that Apple is poised to unveil the M4 MacBook Air in March. If this timeline holds true, it suggests that we won’t see the new MacBook Air launch the same day as the redesigned iPhone SE 4. Previous reports indicated a possible April launch for the M4 MacBook Air, alongside other product releases.
Gurman also hinted that the upgraded MacBook Air could debut in the next few weeks. While specifics are still vague, we rely on his insights to guide our expectations. Notably, Apple may have inadvertently hinted at the M4 MacBook Air’s arrival in December. The company’s macOS 15.2 update included references to an unreleased model equipped with the M4 chip, sparking speculation about its impending launch.
Given the likelihood that the M4 enhancements will primarily focus on internal upgrades rather than vast design changes, it is speculated that the announcement will occur via a press release rather than a major event. Despite the aging design of the MacBook Air, it continues to maintain modern aesthetics and features that hold their ground against other premium models in Apple’s lineup.
Recently, Gurman noted that the inventory of M3 MacBook Air and iPad models is running low in Apple retail locations, a sign that new models are imminent. There are suggestions that Apple might announce the M4 MacBook Air concurrently with the M4 iPad Air and a refreshed entry-level iPad. Stay tuned for updates as the launch date approaches.
