M4 iMac Release: Specifications, Launch Date, Pricing, and Additional Details
Apple has officially unveiled its newest M4 iMac, a significant addition to its well-loved family computer series. This model is the second device powered by the M4 chip, following the M4 iPad Pro released earlier this summer. With improvements in display quality, increased RAM in the base version, and a more powerful processor, this iMac delivers exceptional performance.
Alongside hardware upgrades, Apple is also rolling out new software advancements for the desktop, including native support for Apple Intelligence from day one, a Center Stage camera featuring desk view capabilities, and more. These enhancements are driven by the upgraded neural processor found in the M4 chip, positioning this iMac as an ideal choice for AI-focused applications.
Specifications of the M4 iMac
The standout aspect of the latest iMac is its M4 processor. Apple boasts that this device is 1.7 times quicker than its predecessor, the M3 model. Additionally, the vastly enhanced graphics processor provides a performance boost of 2.1 times for photo and video editing tasks.
Users can select from either an 8-core CPU paired with an 8-core GPU, or a more powerful 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU combination. The base model now comes standard with at least 16 GB of memory and 256 GB of storage, while the top-tier version includes 32 GB of Unified Memory and a generous 2 TB of SSD storage.
The display continues to feature the 24-inch 4.5K Retina panel. However, customers now have the option of a nano-textured glass finish, which minimizes glare and reflections, making it easier to work in brightly lit environments. It’s worth noting that the nano-textured glass adds an additional $200 to the cost.
