Luka Doncic says “he should have drafted me” to Kings GM as Mavs tighten grip on 6th seed
Despite facing the Sacramento Kings on the road at the Golden 1 Center, the Dallas Mavericks, with Luka Doncic at the helm, managed to secure a 107-103 victory and evened out their season series.
Luka Doncic was fouled during the final play after successfully securing a crucial defensive rebound. Despite splitting his free throws, Doncic was seen directing his words and gestures towards former Kings GM Vlade Divac.
“He should have drafted me.”
Divac was accountable for selecting Marvin Bagley with the second pick in the lottery draft, instead of Luka Doncic.
There were widespread reports that Divac favored Bagley over the Slovenian superstar, citing Marvin as a more suitable and talented player, which ultimately made him the clear choice in the draft.
After being chosen as the third overall pick by the Atlanta Hawks in the draft, Luka Doncic was later traded to the Dallas Mavericks for the rights to Trae Young and a protected first-round pick in the 2019 draft lottery.
Luka Doncic leads Dallas Mavericks to thrilling victory over Sacramento Kings
Despite suffering a tough defeat against the Mavericks on Tuesday night, the Kings were presented with the opportunity to redeem themselves against their Western Conference foe on Friday.
As the fourth quarter began, the Kings held a nine-point advantage. However, Dallas (44-29) ultimately emerged victorious, extending their lead over Sacramento (42-31) in the playoff race and bringing them closer to a potential NBA Play-In scenario.
Despite a strong performance in the fourth quarter, shooting an impressive 61% from the field, the Mavericks ultimately sealed a comeback victory, winning 107-103. This defeat crushed the Kings’ chances of claiming the regular season series against Dallas and catching up in the standings.
