In a groundbreaking moment for Love Island season 11, Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan made history as the first Black couple to win the beloved reality show since its inception. However, just months after their victory, Mimii announced their breakup via Instagram Stories on September 30, 2024.

In her message, Mimii shared that she and Josh had attempted to mend their relationship but ultimately could not resolve their differences. Acknowledging the split as a “disappointment,”the former contestant expressed her gratitude towards her fans for their unwavering support.

“I know it’s a big disappointment for a lot of you as it is for me too,”Mimii revealed.

Mimii and Josh made headlines as the first-ever Black couple to emerge victorious in Love Island‘s history. After the finale aired on July 29, 2024, the show’s producers revealed the final voting percentages, showing that the couple garnered an impressive 41% of the total votes.

Mimii Ngulube, the winner of Love Island season 11, took to Instagram to address her recent breakup with Josh Oyinsan. She acknowledged that many of her followers had been curious about their relationship status.

After leaving the villa, Mimii shared that the couple had been working on their relationship. Despite their efforts, they were unable to resolve their issues and ultimately decided to part ways.

Ngulube conveyed that “things aren’t going to work out”between them at this time, suggesting that their romance which blossomed in the Love Island villa has come to an end.

“Hi everyone, I know that a lot of you have been wondering about Josh and I and why we haven’t been making appearances. The truth is we have been trying to figure it out since leaving the villa, but unfortunately, things aren’t going to work out between us right now,”Ngulube stated in her Instagram story.

The Love Island star recognized that news of their breakup might be disappointing for fans and expressed that she shares in that disappointment.

Ngulube took a moment to appreciate their supporters, noting how their encouragement had not gone unnoticed. She stated that their support was instrumental to the couple’s journey, and she ended her message with well wishes for her fans, hoping for a positive future.

“Your support for us hasn’t gone unnoticed and I will forever be grateful for it, you guys are the reason we made it to this point. God bless you all,”Ngulube wrote.

Reflecting on the experience, she described the moment as “surreal”and expressed heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of love and support. Josh also shared his pride in helping “balance the scales”and expressed joy in making history alongside Ngulube.
