In episode 8, which aired on October 9, Monica and Stephen had a tense exchange leading to their breakup. The reason behind it was Monica’s discovery that Stephen allegedly sent sexually explicit messages to another woman.

This confrontation unfolded off-camera, with a visibly emotional Monica confronting Stephen about his actions. Stephen attempted to excuse his behavior by asserting that he had sent the messages while intoxicated during a sleep test and offered an apology for the incident.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly on October 10, Monica indicated her disbelief in Stephen’s explanation as they had just enjoyed a date prior to the sleep test.

“It’s not like he was drinking there without me. I know what he drank and what state of mind he was in when he went and we’d had a couple drinks that evening. I think that he was just using that as an excuse for his behavior,”

The fallout from the drunken text incident ultimately led to Monica and Stephen’s relationship crumbling, as trust was a significant issue that could no longer be ignored. Stephen responded by packing up his belongings, acknowledging that no matter what he said, it wouldn’t change the situation. He later characterized his actions as a “completely stupid mistake.”

Monica further accused Stephen of cheating, alleging that he misled her during the sleep test. She recounted that he had sent her a picture of himself tied to a bed for the test but admitted that the situation clouded her judgment, leading her to question the authenticity of his claims.

“I remember thinking in that conversation, when things were coming to a head, ‘Is that even real? Maybe that’s an old picture that you sent me to throw me off.’ But I was able to verify, through the location and time, that he was actually at a hospital center,”

Monica also mentioned that many fans of Love Is Blind have inquired about the concept of a sleep test, something she found amusing. She noted that Stephen’s sleep studies were connected to his military experience and a disability.

She expressed concern over Stephen’s prior interactions with the woman he was texting, making it difficult for her to accept that it was merely a “one-time thing.”Expressing gratitude for the timing of the revelation, she felt fortunate that the truth came to light early in their connection.
