Love Is Blind Star Stephen Reveals He Paid Monica $450 Post-Breakup: “I Always Pay What I Owe”

The latest episodes of Love is Blind season 7, specifically episodes 7 through 9, made their debut on Netflix on October 9. This installment of the popular social experiment brought together a fresh set of American singles, aiming to uncover connections that transcend physical appearances.

Among the couples featured, Stephen and Monica got engaged after their time in the pods. Unfortunately, their relationship took a turn when Monica discovered that Stephen had engaged in inappropriate behavior by messaging another woman. Prior to their split, Monica requested that Stephen reimburse her for half of their living expenses via Venmo.

Their breakup took place during the filming in October 2023, with the details being revealed in the episode that aired on October 9, 2024. A few days later, on October 12, Stephen hinted on Instagram about the amount he sent Monica through Venmo.

He created a poll on his stories asking followers: “What do you think I owed her? How much did I send?”Followers submitted guesses, and when one guessed $450, he suggested that the figure was “actually pretty close.”

Though the exact amount was never disclosed, he emphasized his commitment to settling his debts.

“I always settle what I owe, even if that means using the last of my funds while I’m currently unemployed.”

The Breakdown of Stephen and Monica’s Relationship

Stephen and Monica shared an immediate connection in the pods, primarily due to their mutual belief in the importance of open communication. Stephen revealed his past infidelity, admitting to “emotionally cheating”on an ex-girlfriend by messaging another woman, a confession that Monica appreciated.

After their engagement and a honeymoon in Mexico, the couple returned to Washington, DC, where Monica grew increasingly disillusioned with Stephen, feeling he was not fulfilling the promises made during their time in the pods. Stephen, on the other hand, struggled to meet her expectations.

As their wedding day approached, Stephen voiced his concerns about feeling pressured to marry. Despite managing to work through their doubts initially, their relationship deteriorated when Monica discovered Stephen was sending explicit messages to another woman.

She confronted him about his intentions, questioning his desire to marry her. Although Stephen attempted to take responsibility and convince her that he would change, Monica chose to end their relationship. Before their breakup, she expressed:

“I don’t believe there’s anything I can say at this point that you would trust. I’m almost ashamed of how much I’ve invested in this.”

Post-Breakup Reflections from Stephen and Monica

Shortly after the breakup episode aired, both Stephen and Monica took the opportunity to share their thoughts about their relationship and their experience on the show.

In an episode of The Viall Files podcast released on October 10, Monica expressed that she harbored no “ill will”toward Stephen, considering him a “good person.”

On October 9, Stephen shared a photo with Monica and mentioned his gratitude for the experiences and connections he made during the show. He also addressed the backlash he faced, commenting:

“It’s interesting that a show focused on not judging appearances has fans who often take things quite literally.”

All episodes from seasons 1 through 9 of Love is Blind season 7 are currently streaming on Netflix.
