The development team at HEXWORKS, responsible for Lords of the Fallen, continues to impress gamers with rapid updates. Following the substantial version 1.6 rollout in November, which brought enhanced exploration capabilities in the Umbral realm, various balance adjustments, and PlayStation 5 Pro support, they have just released version 1.7. This latest update focuses on significantly improving combat fluidity through a series of enhancements.
With version 1.7, players can expect more responsive mechanics, including refined animation cancellations, better invincibility frames, and intuitive dodging and rolling tactics. Improvements extend to attack button prompts, general stamina management, and additional features aimed at providing players with a greater sense of control during gameplay. In this way, HEXWORKS seeks to facilitate easier entry for new players while simultaneously raising the skill ceiling for veterans.
This update introduces several invaluable quality-of-life enhancements as well. Players will now have the option to toggle automatic Vigor collection—a feature introduced in the previous installment—enhancing the gameplay experience. Furthermore, enemy attack ranges and tracking have been adjusted for more immersive encounters, alongside fine-tuning the New Game Plus experience to maintain balance and excitement.
Newcomers to the game will find a welcome addition: the ability to summon NPC allies during boss battles prior to their first encounter, a feature previously restricted until after an initial defeat. The developers have also reworked the stats of these NPCs to ensure they can provide meaningful assistance. Among the new options is a fan-favorite, the Hallowed Sentinel Hound, affectionately dubbed ‘Good Boy’, now available as a summonable ally in boss fights.
Looking to the future, a sequel to Lords of the Fallen is slated for release in 2026. This upcoming title promises further enhancements in gameplay, improved production quality, and a host of upgrades. Notably, it will be available exclusively on the Epic Games Store for PC, bolstered by a significant investment from Epic Games.
In the meantime, players can take advantage of a limited-time offer to purchase Lords of the Fallen at an impressive 60% discount on Steam.
