“Looks like much more fun than playing a final”: Fans react to Daniil Medvedev spending quality time with daughter Alisa following Miami Open SF exit
Despite his semifinal exit from the Miami Open, Daniil Medvedev made sure to prioritize spending quality time with his daughter, Alisa, which has sparked reactions from tennis fans worldwide.
Medvedev, who was the defending champion, started his Miami journey on a positive note by defeating players such as Marton Fucsovics, Cameron Norrie, Dominik Koepfer, and Nicolas Jarry.
Despite his impressive performance, the Russian’s journey was cut short in the semi-finals as he suffered a 1-6, 2-6 loss to Jannik Sinner. It is worth noting that he had emerged victorious over Sinner in the final of the previous year’s championship.
Later, Medvedev was spotted cherishing valuable moments with his daughter, Alisa, who is now more than a year old, alongside his wife Daria Medvedeva. He was instructing Alisa on how to play soccer at the Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club in Surfside, Florida. They also had a wonderful time together in the hotel’s swimming pool.
Tennis enthusiasts have resorted to X (previously known as Twitter) to express their opinions about Daniil Medvedev’s bonding with Alisa. One user even stated that the time he spent with his daughter was more precious than making it to the Miami finals.
“This looks like much more fun than playing a final anyway,”the user wrote.
Another individual penned:
“The Meddy fam always behind you Daniil whether you win or lose. Enjoy family time you deserve it!”
An account shared the following post:

Novak Djokovic cruises to victory in Miami Open final against Jannik Sinner
After losing to Jannik Sinner in the semifinals of the 2024 Miami Open, Daniil Medvedev addressed the media and recognized that competing against the in-form Italian allowed no margin for mistakes. He further conceded that he had to bring his best performance, something he was unable to do.
“Yeah, the margins are small when you play someone like Jannik who is in great shape,”Medvedev said. “I needed to play my best, which I didn’t do. He played well, so, you know, not much more I can add. I needed to play better if I wanted to win and I didn’t manage to do it.”
Medvedev stated that Sinner did not need to put in any extra effort or improve his performance beyond what he had been displaying throughout the season in order to secure the victory.
“I’m not 100% sure he played, like, much better than what he played throughout this whole year and the end of the last year. He already played flawless,”the former US Open champion said.
“He played good. I didn’t play well enough. And again, there is not much — you know, we could speak for hours here, but in the end I didn’t play good enough, he played good, he won easy. That’s the end of the story, to be honest,”he added.
Jannik Sinner and Grigor Dimitrov will compete in the final of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament on March 31. Dimitrov secured his spot in the final with a 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-4 win against Alexander Zverev.
