Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, the remastered edition of the iconic 2012 action-adventure game, is set to introduce a “Nightmare Mode”in its upcoming April update. This mode promises to elevate the difficulty level, a move likely aimed at players seeking an intense gameplay experience.
Since its launch in September 2024, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has achieved remarkable success, recently crossing the significant milestone of 200, 000 copies sold within the first three months. Originally developed by Grasshopper Manufacture, this game has garnered a dedicated fanbase over the years, thanks to its unique hack-and-slash mechanics and the charming character of Juliet Starling. The remaster, handled by Dragami Games, has already rolled out several quality-of-life enhancements and a notable visual upgrade, but it seems there’s more to come.
Yoshimi Yasuda, the game designer for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, announced via social media that the new “Nightmare Mode”will be a major feature in the April update. While many fans have expressed their satisfaction with the remaster, not all reviews have been complimentary. Shortly after launch, Dragami Games addressed allegations of censorship surrounding Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP. Additionally, criticisms regarding game performance have surfaced, with players noting issues in optimization. The absence of many tracks from the original game’s beloved soundtrack has also sparked discontent among fans eager to relive the 2012 experience. As players navigate the over-the-top narrative and engaging combat, there remains hope for improvements in future patches.

Although Goichi “Suda51″Suda did not return for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, he continues to explore new projects. In August 2024, he conveyed his enthusiasm for revitalizing Killer7 with collaborator Shinji Mikami, reflecting the ongoing popularity of the 2005 title. Furthermore, the duo’s past collaboration on Shadows of the Damned in 2011 has resurfaced due to a recent remaster. Suda is also immersed in creating Hotel Barcelona, which is described as a “2.5D slasher film parodic action”game, anticipated for release in early 2025.
