The Godai Shinobi of Koga, esteemed experts in the arts of ninjutsu, are both celebrated and feared across Japan. In the game Assassin’s Creed Shadows, protagonists Naoe and Yasuke must confront the corrupted Godai Shinobi who turned to treachery and violence after their clan was vanquished by Lord Nobunaga.
Your mission will require you to vanquish five formidable opponents, represented by the elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and Void.
After an encounter with a member of the Shinbakufu known as “the Naginata, ”the former Koga ninja master, Shotei, will assign you the crucial task of tracking down and defeating the corrupted Godai.
Locations of the Godai Shinobi in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Below are the sections detailing the locations of each Godai:
- Location of the Godai of Fire
- Location of the Godai of Water
- Location of the Godai of Earth
- Location of the Godai of Wind
- Location of the Godai of Void
Finding the Godai of Fire

Your search for the Godai of Fire starts with the quest Pyrophobia. Speak to a frightened beggar located northwest of Sakamoto, near the river and a farmhouse.
Upon arrival, you’ll confront bandits besieging the beggar. After defeating them, converse with him to learn about malevolent spirits torturing those who disrespected Enryaku-ji Temple. This interaction provides three valuable clues regarding the Godai of Fire:
- Location: Omi
- Region: Northwestern Mount Hiei
- Feature: Near a burning pagoda

Note that the burning pagoda mentioned is not Enryakuji, but the remnants located at the Hiei Foothill viewpoint, situated just north of your last position.

As you proceed past the pagoda, the Godai will be meditating by the road; stealthily approach and eliminate him while he is vulnerable.
Upon successful defeat, you will obtain the Cindersteel Tanto and a combo ender engraving that enhances your armor’s damage.
Tracking Down the Godai of Water
Next, you will seek the Godai of Water, who possesses a less complicated yet elusive location. Use the following clues:
- Location: Omi
- Position: North of Sakamoto
- Environment: A swamp near Mangetsuji Temple

Mangetsuji Temple is located on the peninsula between Sakamoto and Ado River Valley.

Upon finding the Godai of Water meditating with an ocean view, sneak up quietly to exploit the terrain for an upper hand during the encounter.
Victorious players will acquire the Typhoon Tanto along with an engraving that enhances buildup with abilities.
The Elusive Godai of Earth
The Godai of Earth is concealed within the difficult mountainous terrain of Iga, making him particularly challenging to locate. Here are your only clues:
- Location: Iga
- Last seen: Central Hijiyama
- Direction: Northeast of Kuroda Village

While guidance points toward Kuroda Village, the Godai of Earth resides at Otaniinari Shrine, directly south of the Hijiyama Fort and adjacent to the Hijiyama viewpoint.

Upon arriving at the shrine, the Godai can be seen chopping wood. Ambush him for a tactical edge and claim the Rooted Thrust Tanto and a bleed damage engraving after your victory.
Pinpointing the Godai of Wind
Distinct from the other Godai, the Godai of Wind is hidden in quite the obscure location. This character is situated in Iga, north of Ichinomiya at Otogi Pass.

From Aekuni Kakurega in Ichinomiya, head north towards the Buddhas of Shimagahara.

As you navigate through Shimagahara Valley, you’ll discover a trail of destruction leading to the Godai, accompanied by notes that elaborate on Naoe’s mission.
Look for a tree along the path; from there, you can spot the Godai of Wind playing a flute in the dim bamboo grove.

Although the area is dark, the Godai’s purple poisoned Kusaragami will help you identify her. Defeat her to earn the Iron Dispute Tanto and an adrenaline gain on a headshot engraving.
Behind her lies a legendary chest holding the Masked Death Katana and the Charged Posture engraving after a dodge.
Confronting the Godai of Void
With the elemental adversaries defeated, your final challenge is against the Godai of Void. Here are the clues that will guide you:
- Location: Omi
- Area: Eastern Goshiki Outlands
- Nearby: Odani Destroyed Tenshu
The Goshiki Outlands are located in the northeast section of the map, specifically where you will find the Godai of Void.

To locate him, ride up to Nagahama and then head northwest until you discover a path leading up the mountain. There, you’ll encounter the city of Odani, which you can navigate through swiftly.

Upon reaching the summit, you’ll see a tall pagoda that functions as a viewing point—this is the Odani Destroyed Tenshu.
Dive into Odani and interact with blue markers to gather more intel regarding the Godai of Void, which will lead to a secondary quest to save travelers on the eastern path.
Engaging with them reveals the Godai of Void’s exact location: within a cave at Daikichiji Temple.

As you enter the cave, prepare for an ambush. After you triumph over him, you’ll receive the Call of the Void legendary Tanto and an engraving that deals damage to tagged enemies.
Upon returning to Shotei in Koga, you’ll be rewarded for your efforts with the Shining Tatsu Legendary trinket, as well as an engraving that increases the damage dealt by your Tanto mastery.
