After the liberation of Harima from The Ox by Naoe and Yasuke in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the lingering effects of The Ox’s violent ideology continue to plague the area. High-ranking members of his militia remain active, intent on terrorizing the unfortunate inhabitants of the region.
Your journey brings you to Kyokaiji Temple, where you embark on the “Fallen Soldiers”quest. Here, you encounter Koshiro, who is determined to confront his former comrades, despite his injuries. However, it is evident that he is not in a position to battle seasoned, deadly warriors alone. To protect the innocent, Naoe and Yasuke resolve to track down Genzaburo’s Soldiers and eliminate The Ox’s influence permanently.
With five targets to eliminate, the information provided about Genzaburo’s Soldiers is less comprehensive than other target lists. Here’s a detailed guide on locating and defeating each of them.
Locations of Genzaburo’s Soldiers in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
We’ve included an interactive map depicting the exact locations of Genzaburo’s Soldiers. Following the map, you will find detailed strategies for defeating each target:
On this page:
The Scout
To begin your quest, you receive a lead indicating that The Scout is located in the southern Silver Lands. Navigate to Maruyama Shitsugen, situated southwest of Tada Kakurega. You will find The Scout playing the flute on a small island amid the marsh. Upon defeating this foe, you will acquire the Vigilant Grasp bow, which features an engraving for consecutive hits, along with a letter revealing more targets.
The Swordsman
The Swordsman operates out of Harima, specifically northwest of Engyoji near Himeiji. At Mitsunodo Hall, overhear locals expressing concerns about a maniac attacking travelers on a bridge just to the west. Rush down the hill to confront the Swordsman, who is engaging multiple opponents. Claim victory in this encounter to obtain the Inari’s Bounty katana, which includes a critical change on combo ender engraving and another letter guiding you toward your next target.
The Teppo Expert
For your next target, The Teppo Expert, you will partake in a mini-quest to pinpoint their location. Head to Inariyama Garrison, east of the bridge where you previously confronted the Swordsman. Eavesdrop on the Shrine Maidens atop a nearby tower to uncover details leading you to Kaya Shrine, a bit further northwest.
Once at Kaya Shrine, you will discover The Teppo Expert cleaning his rifle behind the main structure. Execute a stealthy assassination to claim the Wave of Wasps Teppo and the Larger Explosive Surprise engraving, along with a letter that points you toward your next target.
The Poisoner
Your penultimate target, The Poisoner, is located in Settsu, to the west of Osaka Castle. Departing from Osaka Kakurega, cross the river and head north to the moat encircling Nishinomaru Garden. Listen to the market children discussing a secret passage into the castle grounds where a Biwa performance is scheduled. Follow one child to locate a hole in the wall beyond the moat.
Blend into the audience to spot The Poisoner performing. Transform the musical performance into a fierce battle, and upon winning, you will acquire The Poisoner’s Message bow, Damage on Multiple Enemies engraving, as well as the final clue to Genzaburo’s whereabouts.
Genzaburo
After defeating The Poisoner, return to Koshiro at Kyokaiji Temple in Harima. Although he wishes to confront Genzaburo himself, Koshiro ultimately divulges the location of Genzaburo to you: Zuiganji Temple, northeast of Himeiji.
This temple lies outside the city limits, across the river to the north. When you find Genzaburo training in the courtyard, approach him to initiate a conversation. Following a tense exchange, he will engage you in battle. Genzaburo proves to be a formidable opponent; however, his light armor makes him susceptible to ability spam. Upon his defeat, your mission concludes with the acquisition of the Tactician’s Steel katana and its Adrenaline on Consecutive Hits engraving.
