Locations of Betrayers in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

In the expansive world of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, players take on the role of Yasuke, who hunts down The Betrayers—the disloyal samurai, nobles, and retainers responsible for the demise of Oda Nobunaga. This quest unfolds during Japan’s volatile Sengoku period, a time marked by war, betrayal, and fierce competition among factions vying for dominance.

One significant encounter occurs at Miidera, located in Otsu on the southern shores of Lake Biwa in Omi. Here, Yasuke reunites with an old ally—Hori Hidemassa, a former retainer of Nobunaga. Hidemassa harbors a deep-seated wish for vengeance against those who betrayed his lord, yet he finds himself hindered by his current obligations. He implores Yasuke to track down these traitors and administer their just punishment—a duel to the death.

The Betrayers you seek range from level 26 to beyond level 30, making them formidable mid-game adversaries scattered throughout various provinces in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Below is a comprehensive guide to locating each one.

Where to Find The Betrayers in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

In this guide:

1. Sato Katsubei

Your journey begins with Sato Katsubei, who can be found in:

  • Yamashiro
  • Yamazaki Castle

Yamazaki Castle lies south of Kyoto, near the border with Settsu, potentially unexplored territory for players. Approach with caution as Sato Katsubei is located on the eastern side of the castle, guarded by armed men. It is advisable to have Yasuke accompany you as this aligns with the quest’s narrative.

In the castle garden, Katsubei presents himself as a skilled samurai, albeit vulnerable to aggressive abilities. Defeating him rewards you with the Roaring Infamy Teppo and a damage-enhancing engraving.

2. Fujichika Nakayama

Your next target, Fujichika Nakayama, is also straightforward to locate:

  • Settsu Province
  • Tenshu of Takatsuki Castle

Takatsuki Castle is found in northern Settsu, near the border with Yamashiro. Fujichika is situated in the northeastern corner of the castle, inside the taller tenshu structure. Within, you’ll spot him with his retainers.

Despite his shorter stature, combat him as you would any enemy. His downfall grants you the Ill-fated String bow and a letter leading you to your next target in Kii.

3. Tomoyasu Endo

Conquering him rewards you with the Sorrowful Surrender Katana and an engraving for critical kills.

5. Itakura Shigezo

Turning your sights back to Hidemassa will lead to vital information on Itakura Shigezo:

Your victory offers the Samarai Daimyo Armor and a backstab engraving as spoils of war.

6. Yoshiko Usami

For the final clue on Usami, return to Hidemassa for crucial intel:

  • Located in Settsu
  • Resides near Katano Castle outskirts

7. Masatoshi Nakahara

Finally, your last target, Masatoshi Nakahara, is positioned in the late-game region of Tamba:

He resides on the northern side of the fortress in a small courtyard, watching over the remains of his enemies. Engage decisively as other armored samurai will rush to aid him. Defeating Masatoshi nets you the Warrior’s Garden Tanto and an assassination engraving.

After you have successfully dealt with all the Betrayers, return to Hidemassa in Otsu. His joy at the completion of his duty offers a chance for a heartfelt dialogue, either cementing a romantic connection or strengthening your friendship. As a gesture of gratitude, he presents you with a beautifully crafted helmet from Nobunaga and a substantial experience boost!
