In the early stages of your adventure in Atomfall, you may encounter the Dam Data Store located in the scenic Casterfell Woods. However, progress here is hindered without two critical items: the Signal Redirector tool and the Dam Data Store Keycard. This facility is integral to Dr. Garrow’s quest, which involves executing a console command within its confines.
If your goal is to uncover the true purpose of the Dam Data Store and acquire the elusive keycard, you have come to the right guide. Below, we outline the steps you need to follow to initiate Dr. Garrow’s quest and successfully obtain the Dam Data Store Keycard in Atomfall.
How to Obtain the Dam Data Store Keycard in Atomfall
The first step to securing the Dam Data Store Keycard is locating Dr. Garrow, the NPC who holds it. Unfortunately, various notes scattered throughout Atomfall suggest she is imprisoned in Skethermoor Prison, meaning a daring rescue operation is necessary.
To free Dr. Garrow from her captivity, you can choose from two distinct approaches:
- Gain Favor with Captain Sims: Head to Wyndham Village’s Village Hall and earn Sims’ trust by revealing secrets about a local resident like Morris Wick, Vicar McHenry, or Iris the baker. Once you’ve built sufficient rapport, he will authorize your entry into Skethermoor Prison to speak with Dr. Garrow without alerting the guards.
- Acquire the Crane Control Room Keycard: This option involves locating the Crane Control Room Keycard found in the Interchange. With it, you can clear the shipment obstructing access to the Detention Quarter. However, you must first acquire a Signal Redirector, which can be found in either the Windfall Shipment or inside Skethermoor Prison itself.
After determining your preferred method to infiltrate Skethermoor Prison, proceed to the Detention Quarter and engage Dr. Garrow in her cell. During your conversation, she will provide insights into the Signal Redirector, which, if you haven’t already retrieved, can be located on a shelf in the Security Storeroom of the prison.
Next, maneuver into the Electricals room via a ledge within the Detention Quarter. From here, operate the Signal Redirector at the power junction to unlock access to the Control Room.
Once inside the Control Room, simply activate the lever to release all inmates, including Dr. Garrow. Be prepared, as the guards will become hostile immediately, necessitating a quick exit.
To access the lower levels, you will again utilize the Signal Redirector on the power junctions located in the Robotics’ Power Control Beta Room and the Robot Assembly Room. This will grant you entry to the lower level, where you must navigate cautiously to avoid the patrolling robots while activating three consoles and collecting Dr. Garrow’s notes.
After you’ve secured the notes, return to the Interchange and present them to Dr. Garrow. She will then assign you with one final task: executing the GEN ERA command using the console in the Dam Data Store situated in Casterfell Woods. Completing this step will reward you with the coveted Dam Data Store Keycard.
Upon entering the Dam Data Store, you need to activate the Signal Redirector to divert power to the Control Room. Once the power is restored, you can then use the Dam Data Store Keycard at the console to energize the central command console within the facility (as depicted in the image below).
Finally, execute the GEN ERA command on the console before leaving and returning to Dr. Garrow. Keep in mind that if you’ve progressed through Joyce Tanner’s quest, she may reach out to you, requesting that you execute the GEN MOVE command instead.
It’s crucial to note that executing either command will preclude you from completing the associated quest of the character whose command you did not use. Thus, if you opt for Garrow’s command—GEN ERA—you’ll find Joyce Tanner to be hostile afterward, and the reverse is also true, effectively closing off one of the potential outcomes in Atomfall.
