In Atomfall, players will encounter numerous hidden keys and passageways that can be effortlessly discovered. Among these, the Crane Control Keycard serves as a vital tool, providing a secure and straightforward way to access Skethermoor Prison without encountering guards. For gamers preferring to avoid direct interaction with Protocol leader Captain Sims, this is indeed welcome news. Below, we detail the location of the Crane Control Keycard and how to utilize it effectively.
Locating the Crane Control Keycard in Atomfall
The Crane Control Keycard is situated within the Interchange area of Atomfall. To ease your navigation, it is advisable to restore power to Data Store Bravo prior to retrieving the keycard.
Start at the Skethermoor Interchange entrance located within Skethermoor Prison’s grounds. Upon entry, turn left and descend the stairs to reach the facility’s central area.

Should the left door be locked, navigate through the broken Quarantine Seal directly in front of you. This route will take you the long way around, allowing you to unlock the left door from behind. Once you’ve made your way through the Quarantine Seal, turn left into Data Store Bravo and descend the stairs. Upon reaching the main facility, the formerly locked door will now be on your left.

From this point, make your way down the stairs into a small Maintenance room on your left. Inside, you’ll find a corpse containing the Crane Control Keycard and a note titled ‘Take Over Crane Operations’, hinting that access to the Detention Quarter is obstructed by a shipping container.
Restoring Power to the Crane Controls in Atomfall
To locate the Crane Control Room, head just outside Data Store Delta.
From the garage where you found the keycard, look out toward the main facility. Proceed straight ahead and ascend the stairs to your left. You’ll reach a narrow hallway where Data Store Delta will be on your right and the Crane Control Room on your left.

Once inside the room, you might discover that the Crane Control Lever lacks power. To remedy this, you will need the Signal Redirector, which you should use on the power junction next to the corkboard.
If you still require the Signal Redirector, consider two options: visit Skethermoor Prison or collect June’s Key and follow her notes. I personally suggest pursuing June’s Key, as it can ultimately lead you toward Skethermoor Prison without entangling yourself in the Crane Controls.

Next, you must use the Signal Redirector on two additional power junctions overhead, which will illuminate sequentially, ultimately restoring power to the lever.

After interacting with the lever, observe as it adjusts a shipping container blocking the Detention Quarter entrance of Skethermoor Prison. Once moved, you may proceed inside.
Exploring the Detention Quarter in Atomfall
Accessing the Detention Quarter is not mandatory in Atomfall; players can reach all Data Stores and complete the game without securing the Crane Control Keycard. Despite this, using the Crane Controls provides a stealthy alternative to entering the well-guarded prison grounds, especially beneficial if you wish to avoid engaging with Captain Sims for his quest, which provides a pass to explore the vicinity without hostility from Protocol Soldiers.
Upon entering the Detention Quarter through the Interchange, you will encounter a vital NPC who can potentially assist in your escape later on.
