While the Eggs and Shadow Crystal Bosses in Deltarune chapters offer intriguing mysteries for players to uncover, the significance of the Moss often flies under the radar. Yet, this overlooked element shares a similar status in the game, leaving fans curious about its true purpose.
Like the aforementioned mysteries, the ultimate reward for collecting all the moss remains elusive. While it may not seem crucial to the game’s overall narrative, gathering moss in each chapter alters your title and introduces fun interactions with your party members.
Typically blending into the environment, the moss can easily be mistaken for mere background scenery. Engaging with it yields unique reactions depending on the characters present in your party at the time, enhancing the gameplay experience and encouraging exploration.
Given that these moss piles are easily missed, I have compiled a comprehensive guide to the four moss locations available in Deltarune as of Chapters 3 and 4.
Chapter 1
Locked Away

The first moss encounter is straightforward. After chasing Lancer and being captured by the guards, you will find yourself in a prison cell alongside Ralsei. Here, you can interact with the moss tucked in the corner, although this instance does not alter your title.
It’s worth noting that all subsequent moss encounters will update Kris’ title in the inventory, making this the only exception. So, keep track of your titles—this could be the most significant reward for moss collection across all chapters.
Chapter 2
Traffic Stop
Your second opportunity to find moss is more complex. As you navigate through Cyber City with Noelle, you will encounter a major intersection where you need to activate two stop buttons to proceed.
After completing this, head straight down and to the right; continue through the alley without pausing, allowing just enough time to dart into another alley on your left before the traffic resumes.
As you explore, you may have a surprising encounter with none other than Toby Fox himself, leading you to a dumpster near where you can find the egg for this chapter. Return to the corner of the room to find the moss, consuming it grants you the title of Moss Finder. For an extra dose of fun, you can wait until you unlock fast travel, return here with Susie, and enjoy the moss together.
Chapter 3
It’s TV Time!
Be cautious—progressing too far into the second Legend of Tenna board can lock you out of this moss. Upon spawning, head directly north, then right in the next room.
You will discover a cave adorned with moss on the wall. By consuming it, your title will change to Moss Mystery. If you delay and return later, however, the moss will likely have disappeared, so seize the opportunity quickly!
Chapter 4
A Holy Place
The first is simpler but easy to miss. After climbing the tower with Susie in the Second Sanctuary, when she expresses her excitement about being in the prophecy, head right as she goes left.
You will find a hallway filled with windows. To reach the egg, identify a specific window, but you can walk to the hallway’s end and interact with the moss in the corner to earn the title of Moss Most.
If you missed it in the Second Sanctuary, there’s no need to worry. You can backtrack even on a completed save to the Third Sanctuary, where dark orbs close in on you, to follow a secret path.
This path is located just above the exit; walk back from the exit, up, and to the right to find the door. Once inside, proceed left, decline the NPC’s offer, and a pathway will lead you back to the same hallway full of windows.
