Lisa Marie Presley’s Age When She Started Dating Michael Jackson: Singer’s Memoir Reveals The King Of Pop Was Still “A Virgin” During Their Meeting
Lisa Marie Presley, the renowned daughter of the legendary singer Elvis Presley, recently released her memoir titled From Here To The Great Unknown. In this candid narrative, she reveals insights into her relationship with the iconic King of Pop, Michael Jackson. An article featured in People Magazine on October 8 detailed that the memoir, launched the same day, highlights their initial encounter at a young age.
Presley recounts that she met Jackson when she was only six years old, and their romantic relationship blossomed in 1994. At that time, Jackson was 35 years old, while Lisa Marie was 25. The memoir also claims that Jackson was reportedly still a virgin during this period.
In her book, she commented on this assertion:
“He told me he was still a virgin. I think he had kissed Tatum O’Neal, and he had a thing with Brooke Shields, which hadn’t been physical apart from a kiss. He said Madonna had attempted to make a connection with him once, but nothing materialized. I was scared because I didn’t want to make any mistakes.”
Lisa Marie Presley Reflects on Her Relationships, Personal Struggles, and Addiction in Her Memoir
This memoir marked Lisa Marie’s final project before her passing in January 2023. Following her death, her daughter, Riley Keough—star of Daisy Jones & The Six—completed the memoir by listening to recordings left by her mother.
In one of the segments, Lisa Marie explored her relationship with Michael Jackson, sharing memories of her formative years at Graceland, her battle with opioid addiction, and the heart-wrenching loss of her son, Benjamin, from her first marriage.
As noted in the same People Magazine article, discussing Jackson, Lisa Marie Presley wrote:
“Michael said, ‘I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’m completely in love with you. I want us to get married and for you to have my children.’ I didn’t respond right away, but eventually, I told him, ‘I’m really flattered, I can’t even talk.’ At that point, I realized I was in love with him too.”
In her memoir, she recounted how Michael Jackson revealed that he was still a virgin and mentioned his prior relationships, noting a kiss with Tatum O’Neal and a non-physical romance with Brooke Shields.
Lisa elaborated that Jackson had claimed Madonna tried to pursue him, but nothing came from it. She expressed:
“When he decided to kiss me for the first time, he just went for it. He initiated everything. The physical part of our relationship took me by surprise. I thought we would wait until marriage, but he stated, ‘I’m not waiting!’”
Aside from sharing her experiences with the King of Pop, she also bravely addressed her struggles with opioid addiction, commenting:
“It escalated to 80 pills a day. It required more and more to achieve a high, and I genuinely don’t know when your body chooses to reject it. But it does, eventually.”
In an interview with Oprah Winfrey on the same date her memoir was released, Riley Keough reflected on how her mother couldn’t imagine life without Jackson.
Riley also recounted how Lisa preserved Benjamin’s body with dry ice for two months and later consulted a tattoo artist to create a tribute tattoo as part of her grieving process.
At the time of her relationship with Jackson, Lisa Marie was married to Danny Keough. Just weeks after finalizing her divorce in May 1994, she tied the knot with Jackson. Their marriage lasted a little over two years, concluding in August 1996.
Michael Jackson tragically passed away in 2009 due to cardiac arrest at the age of 50. In contrast, Lisa Marie Presley died in January 2023 from complications related to a small bowel obstruction, at 54 years old.
