Lil Xan Faces $27K Payment Order: Unpacking the 2020 Tupac Debate Incident
On October 24, 2024, a local court mandated that rapper Lil Xan compensate Anthony Sanchez, who is known to be a dedicated Tupac Shakur supporter, with an amount of $27,000 due to an altercation that occurred in 2020. During this incident, which took place at a 7-Eleven in Los Angeles, it was reported that Xan drew a firearm amidst a heated exchange.
Sanchez lodged a complaint against the rapper several years ago following the incident. Lil Xan failed to respond to the legal action, resulting in a judge awarding Sanchez a default judgment of $27,823.89 for damages and additional penalties.
According to the documents filed by Sanchez, the confrontation stemmed from a dispute regarding Tupac Shakur, after Sanchez challenged Xan for labeling the celebrated artist “boring” back in 2018.
Additionally, a viral video from the incident captured Sanchez insulting Lil Xan by calling him “a bitch.” In response, an enraged Xan brandished a gun and menaced Sanchez by aiming it at him. Sanchez noted in his complaint that he was genuinely fearful for his safety during the encounter.

“That interview should’ve never even been aired ‘cause I wasn’t in a good place during the interview. I was angry at that time. And all that came down to was a result of me just trying to get the interview done quicker. I was like, ‘Next question. Next question.’ And then they just give me questions and I’m messing around.”
He further acknowledged Tupac’s monumental status, stating:
“I think Tupac is a legend. I don’t have to explain myself to anybody, but I grew on a lot of old school West Coast, a lot of old school East Coast. But after that, that was just a little mishap. It was the result of me not being as mature as I am today, inexperienced with interviews a lot too.”
