Canadian hip-hop artist Drake has recently made headlines after DJ Akademiks posted a screenshot showing that Drizzy appeared to have “liked”a post. The post included a clip originally shared by the Instagram account @torontorappers.
The post that Drake allegedly liked showcased Rory and MAL engaging in a podcast conversation about whether there was a feud brewing between Drake and J. Cole.
They also touched on the newly released track Ruby Rosary, where J. Cole collaborated with A$AP Rocky.
This possible reaction from Drake has captured significant attention from netizens, leading many to express their opinions across social media platforms.
Other users weighed in on the rumored rivalry between J. Cole and Drake.
One user suggested that Cole had clearly taken a side, while others debated the music produced by the involved rappers.
While it appeared that J. Cole initially aimed to avoid taking sides in the alleged feud, his actions suggested otherwise. He has collaborated with artists who have had disputes with Drake, such as A$AP Rocky.
Additionally, the podcasters speculated that Cole had made a deliberate choice. MAL pointed out that Cole likely knew Drake wouldn’t engage in a feud with him.
However, some fans defended Cole, arguing that he strives to collaborate with everyone and didn’t want to miss any opportunities. Meanwhile, Drake’s suspected like on the post led many to believe he was confirming the discord.
Understanding Drake and J. Cole’s Relationship in the Music Industry
Drake and J. Cole have risen to become two of the most influential rappers in the music scene. Their camaraderie began years ago when both artists were attempting to carve out their niche in the touring world. In a 2010 interview with Vibe, Cole shared:
“Right now, it’s a mutual respect, like ‘I see what you’re doing, you’re killing the game, I’m a fan or whatever the case is.’
He went on to express that during their early careers, they were focused on their individual work and couldn’t necessarily be “best friends”at that moment. Cole anticipated that they could foster a friendship once they both achieved greater successes. He further stated in the same 2010 interview:
“We’re not in the position to be best friends. We can save that for when we’re both laid up and chilling, but right now we both have work to do.”
Throughout the years, the pair have collaborated on various projects and have been featured in each other’s tours. In October of last year, Drake released his studio album titled For All the Dogs, which includes a track named First Person Shooter featuring J. Cole.
Despite all the rumors surrounding the alleged rivalry between J. Cole and Drake, neither artist has publicly acknowledged any disputes or issues between them.
