“Lil Durk’s Son Zayden Praises His Supportive Father: A Message of Love for the Rapper”
On October 29, Zayden Banks, the son of rapper Lil Durk, turned to Instagram to show his support for his father, who is currently in federal custody due to serious murder-for-hire allegations. These accusations include claims that Lil Durk offered a bounty on the life of fellow Chicago artist Quando Rondo.
Zayden shared a video featuring Chicago’s Mayor Brandon Johnson expressing backing for Lil Durk. He emphasized the importance of standing by his father, whose real name is Durk Devontay Banks. In his message, Zayden pointed out that Durk has consistently supported his community through his non-profit, Neighborhood Heroes. He also stated:
“More than that, he is an incredible father who has always provided unwavering love and support to our family. Though he is currently facing challenges, I want everyone to know that he is innocent until proven guilty. During this tough time, I kindly request your continued support for him and the positive work he does.”
Furthermore, Zayden expressed his appreciation to the Chicago mayor, noting that Johnson’s speech was insightful and showcased community solidarity towards those making positive contributions.
Lil Durk has six children—Angelo, Bella, Du’mier, Skyler, Willow, and Zayden—from five different mothers. As of now, the identity of Zayden’s mother remains undisclosed. Zayden, born in 2013, is believed to be living apart from his parents.
More Details on Lil Durk’s Arrest as His Son Publicly Shows Support
An affidavit submitted to the federal court, which included testimony from FBI agent Sarah Corcoran, alleged that Lil Durk had issued a bounty for the life of rapper Quando Rondo, as reported by CBS News. Five of Durk’s acquaintances have been arrested in connection to the case as they had allegedly booked flights to facilitate the assassination.
According to Billboard, Durk, along with his crew from Only The Family (OTF), including Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston, reportedly utilized a credit card linked to OTF to book flights and accommodations when attempting to execute the plan against Rondo.
Corcoran’s testimony indicated that the associates allegedly employed “two vehicles to monitor, communicate and try to kill [Quando Rondo] using gunfire—this included a fully automatic weapon—leading to the death of S.R.” S.R. is widely identified as Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, nicknamed “Lul Pab.”
The alleged murder conspiracy was purportedly devised as retribution for the 2020 murder of Lil Durk’s friend and fellow rapper King Von. Following Von’s death, Rondo’s associate Timothy “Lul Tim” Leeks was accused of murder.
It is noteworthy that the Chicago mayor offered his support to Durk, especially since the rapper made a significant donation of $150,000 to Johnson’s campaign last year, as noted by Forbes. The U.S. District Attorney’s office also reported that Lil Durk had attempted to escape the country before his arrest. The affidavit revealed he had reserved three flights to Italy, Switzerland, and Dubai but ultimately did not board any of them.
Before his arrest, Lil Durk had been actively promoting his upcoming album, Deep Thoughts, which is scheduled for release on November 22. Given the circumstances of his recent arrest, it remains uncertain whether the album will be released as planned.
