However, it is essential to clarify that there are no official announcements indicating that Lil Durk is facing execution by electrocution. Interestingly, California, where Durk is being charged, does not practice capital punishment. Since 2006, a federal order has been in place, and Governor Gavin Newsom introduced a moratorium on the death penalty in 2019.

A Look Into Lil Durk’s Legal Challenges

On October 25, Lil Durk—whose legal name is Devontay Durk Banks—was apprehended by federal authorities in South Florida following an indictment in Los Angeles. He was originally intercepted after the U.S. Customs and Border Protection flagged him for having booked two international flights: one from Miami to Dubai and another from Fort Lauderdale to Switzerland.

Reports also suggest that he had a private jet booked from Miami to Italy. Nevertheless, he was arrested just an hour before departure while still in the vicinity of the airport. After his arrest, he was taken to Broward County Jail, where he is awaiting extradition to California to address the allegations regarding the murder-for-hire plot targeting Quando Rondo.

To provide context, this plot stems from a violent encounter in August 2022, where a group of five men assaulted Rondo at a gas station in Los Angeles. Although Rondo and his sister emerged unscathed, his cousin, Saviay’a Robinson (also known as Lul Pab), tragically lost his life during the incident.

The indictment against Durk alleges that he orchestrated the murder plan against Rondo, involving five members from his label, Only The Family (OTF). This purported retaliation aimed to avenge the November 2020 murder of King Von—a close associate of Durk who died in an altercation involving Rondo’s crew in Atlanta.

Notably, a day prior to Lil Durk’s arrest, five OTF members were also detained in Chicago: Kavon London Grant (Vonnie/Cuz), Deandre Dontrell Wilson (DeDe), Keith Jones (Flacka), David Brian Lindsey (Browneyez), and Asa Houston (Boogie). Like Durk, they were arraigned post-arrest, in Chicago, before being set to face charges in California.

According to court documents, these suspects utilized rental cars, flights, and various services facilitated through credit cards linked to OTF to carry out their plans. Allegedly, the group agreed to participate in the scheme for promised “lucrative music opportunities” from a senior OTF member.

The indictment further reveals that one unnamed member of OTF acted as a federal informant for several years, a key factor in the evidence gathered against Durk. Federal authorities have indicated that OTF may have ties to gang activities, which complicates the narrative.
