New Gameplay Insights for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza Highlighting Goro Majima

Recent footage of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza offers fans an engaging look at Goro Majima’s combat mechanics, specifically focusing on his two distinct fighting styles: Mad Dog and Sea Dog. This action-packed trailer spans over three minutes and provides a closer examination of how these styles impact gameplay.

Combat Styles: Mad Dog and Sea Dog

The trailer begins with a montage of intense fight scenes before diving into detailed representations of Majima’s combat styles. The Mad Dog Style, a hallmark of Majima’s character from previous Yakuza installments, showcases his rapid, slashing attacks. Viewers will notice a variety of Heat Actions demonstrated, alongside mechanics for charging moves to amplify their damage potential.

At approximately the 1:10 mark, the trailer introduces the Madness Gauge’s Suspicious Men feature, illustrating Majima’s ability to summon shadow clones that bolster his combat prowess. This mechanic not only amplifies Majima’s offensive capabilities but also encourages strategic gameplay.

The Sea Dog Style: A New Dimension of Combat

Transitioning to the Sea Dog Style, players are introduced to a fresh twist on Majima’s fighting techniques. In this style, he wields dual cutlass swords, enhancing both melee and ranged combat options. Beyond just slashing enemies, Majima can throw his swords, employ a chain hook, or even shoot with a pistol. This versatility provides players with multiple approaches to tackle various combat scenarios.

Similar to the Mad Dog Style, the Sea Dog mode also allows for ally summoning. However, the trailer introduces a unique visual flair, revealing how these allies are summoned through “dark instruments” once the Madness Gauge is filled to capacity.
