Lies of P: Overture Quest Guide for Salao, The Old Fisherman

In the Lies of P: Overture downloadable content (DLC), players encounter a myriad of intriguing characters, including Salao, the Old Fisherman. This character stands out due to his melancholic demeanor and determination, as he tirelessly pursues the goal of catching one of Krat’s legendary fish.

After a long wait, Salao finally accomplishes his long-held dream. To mark this achievement, he seeks your assistance in procuring some alcohol for celebration.

Locating Salao, the Old Fisherman

Players can easily find Salao near the Shipwreck Exterior Stargazer during Chapter 4 of the DLC. Instead of heading straight onto the boat, take the icy pathway to the left and continue forward until you spot Salao resting against a colossal fish.

Upon interacting with Salao, he will share his tale of perseverance in capturing one of the largest fish in Krat. Now that he has succeeded, he entrusts you with the task of finding alcohol for his celebration.

Finding Beer for Salao, the Old Fisherman

The beer that Salao desires can be obtained from the Krat Lighthouse, also located within Chapter 4. Note that the Krat Lighthouse Stargazer is easy to miss; it follows directly after the Frozen Coast Stargazer.

As you progress from the Frozen Coast Stargazer, look for a prominent lighthouse in the distance. Inside this structure, you’ll find the beer for Salao, which also coincidentally advances Rosaura’s quest.

Upon entering the lighthouse, ascends the stairs until you reach a small room lined with shelves and desks. On the left side of this room, you will discover the Old Bottle of Beer resting on a shelf. Collect it and head back to Salao, the Old Fisherman.

To Lie or Not to Lie to Salao?

Should You Lie or Tell the Truth to Salao in Lies of P Overture

Upon returning with the beer, Salao will express his gratitude and pose a pivotal question: “Did you praise my catch to the villagers and the brat?”It’s here that you get to choose between honesty or deception.

I recommend opting for the lie by selecting the response “Everyone was impressed with your catch.”This choice grants you the Fisherman’s Weathered Key, which is essential for progressing in this quest.

If you prefer to tell the truth, you can choose the line “Everyone in the village is dead.”While this may be the truthful option, it will lead to a somber conclusion, and Salao will withhold the key.

Exploring the Fisherman’s Hut

Following your decision to deceive Salao, he will reward you with the Fisherman’s Weathered Key, which grants access to his hut located to the right of the lighthouse steps where you found the beer.

Inside the hut, a somber scene awaits—a deceased woman lies on the bed. Interacting with her reveals the Old Fisherman’s Letter. Reading this letter prompts a poignant moment, leaving P’s body feeling warmth.

Regrettably, the grim conclusion is that the deceased woman is likely his wife, Clara.
