Liam Payne, the former One Direction member, tragically passed away after a fall from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires. This incident occurred on October 16, 2024, at the Casa Sur Palermo Hotel.
The authorities discovered his body in the hotel’s courtyard, and an investigation is currently underway to establish the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event.
As reported by Sky News, Liam’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, had recently returned to the United States a few days prior. On his Snapchat story, Liam shared several clips featuring himself with Cassidy, including one where they posed together in front of a garden, captioned:
“Happy I got some time away.”
In addition, on Tuesday, October 15, Cassidy posted a TikTok video documenting her journey back home. In the video, she expressed:
“I was so ready to leave. Honestly, love South America but I hate staying in one place for too long and we were supposed to be there for like five days. It turned into two weeks and I was just like ‘I need to go home.’”
Kate’s boarding pass from the video indicated her flight was on October 12, suggesting that she and Liam had spent approximately two weeks in Argentina. Cassidy has not yet made any public statements regarding the tragic event.
Pictures from Liam Payne’s hotel room go viral: 911 call and other details emerge
Reports indicate that Liam traveled to Buenos Aires to attend a concert for fellow One Direction member Niall Horan. Following his untimely passing, Marca magazine published several photographs revealing his hotel room’s poor condition.
The images showed a broken television screen, while the desk featured various items, including matches, a lighter, and a substance believed to be cocaine. Additionally, the bathroom contained remnants of candles and aluminum foil.
Local reports suggested that Liam displayed “erratic”behavior in the hotel lobby, even smashing his laptop before needing assistance back to his room.
The Associated Press obtained details of a 911 call made by the hotel manager, who reported that a guest appeared to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
According to The Mirror, the manager made another call where a hotel employee named Esteban expressed urgency:
“The room has a balcony and we are afraid he might do something. Just send an ambulance, only an ambulance.”
Esteban mentioned that the guest had been at the hotel for about two or three days. A female responder assured him that an ambulance would be dispatched along with the police for further assistance.
The Buenos Aires Police Department confirmed that Liam Payne sustained critical injuries from the fall, which ultimately led to his demise. The head of the state emergency medical system, Alberto Crescenti, reported on Todo Noticias that Payne fell from an estimated height of around 13 or 14 meters.
