The singer-songwriter, aged 31, tragically passed away on October 16, 2024, following a fatal fall from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death are ongoing as of this writing.
A preliminary autopsy revealed that Liam succumbed to “multiple traumas”and “internal and external hemorrhaging.”An initial toxicology analysis indicated that substances, including cocaine, crack, and benzodiazepine, were present in his system. Furthermore, it was reported that he had taken “pink cocaine,”a dangerous blend of ketamine, MDMA, methamphetamine, and opioids, prior to the incident.
Leading up to his untimely death, it was reported that Payne had caused significant damage to his hotel room and displayed alarming behavior that troubled hotel staff.

He disclosed that heavy drinking began during his One Direction tours and that he had faced suicidal ideations.
