Liam Gallagher Mocks SNL Skit on Oasis Reunion Tour: “Are They Meant to Be Comedians?”

Liam Gallagher Mocks SNL Skit on Oasis Reunion Tour: “Are They Meant to Be Comedians?”

Liam Gallagher has voiced his opinions regarding the parody of his ongoing feud with brother Noel Gallagher featured on Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update”segment, airing on October 13. A fan inquired in the comments of one of Liam’s posts whether he had caught the SNL skit.

The lead singer of Champagne Supernova did not find the skit particularly amusing, leading him to deliver a witty, albeit cutting, retort:

“Are they meant to be comedians?”

The skit featured comedians Sarah Sherman and James Austin Johnson, with Sherman portraying Liam and Johnson taking on the role of Noel. Within the segment, the characters engage in a conversation with segment host Colin Jost.

During the skit, Jost inquires whether the Noel character feels they could tolerate each other while on the road. To this, Johnson, as Noel Gallagher, responds, ‘I’m cool if he’s cool,’ prompting Sherman, in the role of Liam Gallagher, to declare, ‘I’m cool…I’m cool. I’m cooler than you are.’

Jost then follows up with, ‘Great, so that’s a no,’ to which Sherman counters, ‘It’s not a hard no, it’s a maybe.’ Johnson then chips in, ‘We said maybe…if Liam doesn’t act like a baby.’

In a playful exchange lasting three minutes, the portrayed Gallagher brothers are shown play fighting, sticking their tongues out, and parodying lyrics from their iconic song, “Wonderwall.”

Despite the humor of the sketch, Liam’s sharp retort suggests he wasn’t impressed by SNL’s take on him and Noel.

Noel and Liam Gallagher Plan a Major Oasis Reunion Tour

Apart from their legendary rock status, Noel and Liam Gallagher made waves in August with the announcement of a 14-date reunion tour across the UK and Ireland scheduled for 2025.

The brothers revealed their plans on Instagram, sharing a monochrome photo of themselves and stating:

“The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”

Following this, a post detailed the “OASIS Live 25″world tour, outlining concert locations and ticket release dates. The initial schedule mentioned stops in Cardiff, Manchester, Kindon, Edinburgh, and Dublin.

Additions to their tour now include an American leg, announced in September via Instagram with the message:

“America. Oasis is coming. You have one last chance to prove that you loved us all along.”

The Gallagher brothers have since added five more stadium dates for their U.S. tour, with shows planned in Chicago, New Jersey, Los Angeles, Toronto, and Mexico City.

This reunion marks the first time in approximately 15 years that Oasis fans will witness the Gallagher siblings performing together live since their split in 2009, which was marked by considerable discord. Noel Gallagher officially departed from Oasis just before a performance at a festival near Paris.

At that time, Noel, the group’s guitarist and principal songwriter, stated that he “simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

While this upcoming tour will provide a much-anticipated occasion for Oasis fans to see the brothers united on stage once more, both performers continue to deliver classic Oasis songs during their individual solo concerts.
