This year, Apple has strategically enhanced the iPhone 17 by incorporating several upgrades while maintaining its price point. This approach has not only catalyzed a surge in consumer demand but has also positively impacted one of its key display suppliers, LG. New reports suggest that the uptick in OLED orders could empower LG to achieve its highest operating profit in nearly 15 quarters, translating to almost four years.
LG to Ship 45.6 Million iPhone 17 Display Units; Projected Operating Profit at $332.4 Million
According to a report by DDaily, the substantial increase in display orders correlating with the rising demand for the iPhone 17 is expected to significantly benefit LG. Data from UBI Research indicates that LG will supply approximately 45.6 million OLED units, while Samsung is anticipated to provide around 78 million units.
This surge in display orders is poised to bolster LG’s revenues and operating profits significantly. Estimates from Daishin Securities predict that during the Q3 2025 period, LG’s operating profit could reach 448 billion won, equivalent to about $332.4 million, stemming from a projected revenue of 6.87 trillion won, or $5.1 billion.
Looking ahead, LG is also expected to reap benefits in the following year’s financial outcomes, with projections suggesting an earnings potential of around 1 trillion won, or approximately $741.9 million. However, it is crucial to note that these estimates hinge on the sustained demand for the iPhone 17; a decline in this demand could adversely affect LG’s financial health. Nonetheless, it is notable how one significant customer can considerably enhance a supplier’s prospects, particularly when there’s a strong business relationship like that with Apple.

iPhone 17 Retains $799 Starting Price, Offers Unbeatable Value
For those who have yet to catch up, the iPhone 17 is poised to be Apple’s best ‘price to performance’ release in years. Sporting the powerful A19 SoC produced using TSMC’s cutting-edge 3nm ‘N3P’ process and doubling the internal memory to 256GB, this model brings significant technical upgrades. Particularly, its LTPO OLED enhancement marks a considerable leap, positioning the iPhone 17 in contention with the pricier ‘Pro’ versions.
What makes this announcement even more compelling is that Apple has maintained the price at $799, the same as the iPhone 16, despite the myriad of hardware enhancements it offers. If such significant upgrades fail to drive consumer enthusiasm, it raises questions about market dynamics. Currently, very few competitors can offer the same value proposition as the iPhone 17, a factor that is evidently contributing to LG’s financial success.
