In the realm of challenging RPGs, WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers stands out with its unique resources crucial for building powerful characters and succeeding in battles. At the forefront of these resources is the in-game currency known as Red Mercury. This essential material allows players to enhance their abilities and increase their chances of survival in combat.
Similar to the Runes system in Elden Ring, players can accumulate Red Mercury by defeating enemies or discovering it during their adventures. To maximize your progress in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, here’s a comprehensive guide on utilizing Red Mercury for leveling up.
Leveraging Red Mercury for Leveling Up
Red Mercury serves as the primary currency in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, and you will collect it by vanquishing lesser foes and conquering bosses. To level up your character, you will need to visit the Impetus Repository located at various Shrines throughout the game. Additionally, Red Mercury can be exchanged for valuable items from merchants like Tao Qing and Wu Gang.
Your current Red Mercury balance is displayed on the top right corner of the main menu. A glowing gold icon indicates that you have sufficient currency to proceed with leveling up.

Once the Red Mercury icon lights up, it’s advisable to head to a Shrine, access the Impetus Repository, and select ‘Refine Red Mercury Essence’ (as illustrated above). This process converts your raw Red Mercury into levels, each of which enhances various stats of your character. For every level achieved, you receive one Red Mercury Essence; you can also earn more through gameplay.
Red Mercury Essence differs from raw Red Mercury and cannot be utilized in shops. This resource is dedicated to the Impetus Repository, where you will spend it to unlock new Skill Nodes. Unlocking these nodes allows you to enhance specific attributes, gain access to new weapon disciplines, and acquire unique abilities such as clashing and deflecting enemy attacks.
How to Accumulate More Red Mercury
Throughout your journey in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, collecting Red Mercury becomes a natural part of gameplay. Each enemy defeated grants a small amount of this currency, while boss encounters yield significantly larger sums.

During your exploration, keep an eye out for items such as Red Mercury Shoots or Budding Red Mercury. These items can be dropped by defeated foes or discovered while traversing the game world. You can consume them from your inventory (as illustrated above) or sell them to merchants for additional Red Mercury, enabling further refinement and expenditure.
It’s worth noting that the drop rate for these items appears to be random; I’ve observed the same enemy dropping them multiple times. Therefore, when it comes to leveling, defeating as many enemies as possible is a sound strategy. However, be aware that as you progress and require more Red Mercury for leveling up, the task of farming will naturally become more demanding.
