“Let’s stop the bulls**t” – Carmelo Anthony shuts down Mike Greenberg’s question of Huskies defeating an NBA team
A few days ago, Mike Greenberg, a well-known sports personality, expressed his belief that the current University of Connecticut roster could defeat an NBA team. However, in a recent episode of his podcast “7PM in Brooklyn,”Carmelo Anthony shared his disagreement with Greenberg’s statement and discussed his reasons for doing so.
In the past, there have been exceptional college teams that have produced incredible talent. These teams were highly praised and some even believed they could defeat an NBA team. However, the professionals have a different opinion.
Despite being a member of the Syracuse squad that reached the NCAA championship game, Melo acknowledges that it was not just his talent alone that led to their victory in the 2003 NCAA title. He credits the collective support and contributions of his teammates for their success. However, Anthony also recognizes that their team, although skilled, was not able to defeat an NBA team.
“These guys are pros, man,”Anthony said. “Let’s not get it twisted. .. The NBA, that’s a man’s league, no matter how young guys come into the league.
“None of these [college] teams is coming to the NBA. So, let’s stop the bulls**t.”
Despite UConn’s strong performance this year, it may seem as though they are capable of defeating any opponent they come across. Nevertheless, NBA teams consist of highly trained professional players who regularly compete at the highest level. Even the weakest team in the league is capable of holding their own against a college team.
Melo explained that even if they played against each other, struggling teams like the Chicago Bulls would still be able to compete with and defeat UConn.
Carmelo Anthony Impressed by Jalen Brunson’s Impressive Career-High Scoring Performance
In a recent game, the New York Knicks faced off against the San Antonio Spurs in an epic showdown between Jalen Brunson and Victor Wembanyama. Both players achieved personal bests in scoring, making for an unforgettable match. Brunson’s impressive 61 points fell just one point short of Carmelo Anthony’s record for most points scored in a game by a Knick.
To provide context, the Knicks’ opponent was the Charlotte Hornets (known as the Bobcats at the time) when Anthony scored 62 points. Until now, he still holds the franchise record for the highest number of points scored in a single game. There were high expectations that Brunson would surpass this record during their regular season matchup against the Spurs.
The 10-time All-Star expressed his thoughts on the achievement.
“It comes to a point where it’s like you stop thinking about the record and it’s like, ‘Yo, go get it,’”Anthony said. “I was actually a fan watching it.
“Every record’s meant to be broken.”
Despite his short tenure with the Knicks, Brunson may still have the opportunity to surpass Anthony’s scoring record.
