New Insights from Star Ella Purnell about Fallout Season 2
In a discussion with Variety published on October 10, 2024, Ella Purnell disclosed that she has yet to read any scripts for the forthcoming season. While promoting her recent dark comedy series Sweetpea, she mentioned that she has not prepared for her return in Fallout season 2.
Back in July 2024, Amazon executives Vernon Sanders and Jennifer Salke confirmed that the scripts for Fallout season 2 were finalized. However, Purnell, who plays the lead character Lucy, has not yet shared any updates about the new season.
According to a Forbes article from October 9, 2024, Purnell indicated that her knowledge about the new season is quite limited, and she has no preparations in place. She commented,

I’m hopeful that I’ll be involved. I think I will be… I’m eager to dive back in and start practicing my accent and getting into the right mindset for Lucy,”she expressed.
Overview of Fallout Season 1’s Plot
Amazon acquired the rights to develop a visually stunning live-action adaptation of this popular gaming series back in 2020. The announcement for this dystopian action series was made in July of that year, with Bethesda Game Studios—the original creators of the video game—joining the project’s production.
Filming for the first season officially began on July 5, 2022, and after two years, it premiered with eight episodes on Amazon Prime Video on April 10, 2024. Just eight days later, the series was renewed for a second season on April 18, 2024.
Set in an alternate history where rapid nuclear developments in the wake of WWII lead to a dystopian environment, Fallout season 1 begins in 2077, following a catastrophic war between the U.S. and China. Survivors reside in Vaults made by Vault-Tec, which conducts hidden experiments on them. The narrative kicks off in 2296, focusing on Lucy (played by Ella Purnell), a young girl from Vault 33, who ventures out to locate her estranged father.
Her journey takes her through the desolate wastelands of Los Angeles, where she discovers that her father, Kyle, has been kidnapped. Along the way, she encounters the Brotherhood of Steel and teams up with a ghoul bounty hunter to unveil Vault-Tec’s dark secrets.
