The Lenovo ThinkCentre Neo Ultra Gen 2 mini PC distinguishes itself from traditional mini PCs by incorporating a discrete GPU, resulting in superior performance. However, this enhancement comes with a trade-off: a larger form factor that may not suit everyone’s portability needs.
Lenovo ThinkCentre Neo Ultra Gen 2: A Powerful Compact Solution
Since last year, Lenovo has shifted its strategy regarding mini PCs. In 2024, the tech giant rolled out the YOGA Portal Mini PC, equipped with a Core i7 14700 and a GeForce RTX 4070. Recently, Lenovo has further expanded its mini PC lineup with the discreetly launched ThinkCentre Neo Ultra Gen 2. This model features a desktop-class GeForce RTX 5060 GPU, designed to meet both gaming and productivity demands without compromising on size.

The ThinkCentre Neo Ultra Gen 2, now available in China, boasts the cutting-edge Arrow Lake Core Ultra 9 285 processor alongside the powerful GeForce RTX 5060. Interestingly, ZOTAC also unveiled a similar product featuring an RTX 5060 Ti housed in a more compact 2.65-liter chassis. However, ZOTAC’s release utilizes the Core Ultra 7 255HX, a mobile chip from the same Arrow Lake family, making it less powerful than its Lenovo counterpart.

Housing the desktop-grade RTX 5060 requires a larger chassis for the ThinkCentre Neo Ultra Gen 2, which measures 3.6 liters, making it bulkier than typical mini PCs. This design not only supports top-tier performance but also allows for greater expandability. It comes with 32 GB of DDR5 RAM (SODIMM) clocked at 5600 MT/s, and features a primary 1 TB NVMe SSD. Users will appreciate the option to install up to four M.2 drives, including one dedicated for Wi-Fi, significantly increasing storage capabilities compared to its predecessor, which offered only two M.2 slots.
In addition, the mini PC is equipped with built-in 2W speakers—an uncommon feature in mini PCs—enhancing user experience by offering convenient sound output. For those preferring external audio solutions, a front 3.5mm audio jack is also provided. The connectivity options are impressive, featuring two USB Type A ports and a single USB Type C port on the front panel, while the rear I/O includes several additional USB ports along with four display connectors: three DisplayPorts and one HDMI, all managed through the GPU.

The ThinkCentre Neo Ultra Gen 2 is currently listed for 16, 999 Yuan, equivalent to approximately $2387, on JD. This price point is 1, 000 Yuan (around $140) less than the YOGA Portal Mini PC at its launch. While Lenovo initially showcased this model in April, its official retail launch has not been announced, leading to speculation that it may have been released quietly to the market.
