A talented Pokémon enthusiast has successfully crafted a remarkable LEGO version of Obstagoon, utilizing components solely from one specific set. This endeavor has sparked interest among both Pokémon and LEGO aficionados, encouraging others to undertake similar projects.
Despite the absence of an official collaboration between Pokémon and LEGO, these two franchises complement each other perfectly. Other Nintendo titles, such as Animal Crossing and The Legend of Zelda, have enjoyed dedicated LEGO sets, leaving Pokémon fans to innovate with generic LEGO pieces. Thankfully, LEGO promotes creativity and imagination, leading to a vibrant subculture where fans design their own Pokémon representations.
In a recent Reddit post, user Willing_Rip_6838 shared their impressive LEGO build of Obstagoon, known as the blocking Pokémon. They ingeniously limited their creation to the parts from the 3-in-1 Wild Animals: Panda Family LEGO kit, designed for constructing a panda family along with decorative elements. Out of the 626 pieces in the set, Willing_Rip_6838 skillfully brought Obstagoon to life, successfully capturing its distinct features—like its iconic pink eyes and even a playful representation of its tongue—while maintaining a recognizable and characteristic wide bipedal stance. However, they noted the absence of gray pieces prevented the inclusion of Obstagoon’s back fur, resulting in a slightly blocky rendition.

A Warm Reception from the Pokémon Community
The post has garnered significant attention, amassing over 9,000 upvotes, with fans expressing admiration for the build. Some commenters noted the nearly mecha-like aesthetic of the Obstagoon, while others eagerly requested instructions on how the creator assembled this fantastic piece. Although adhering to a single LEGO set presents challenges, it also empowers builders who wish to replicate such creative feats, as it eliminates the need for rare or costly LEGO components.
Whether or not Pokémon eventually receives its own dedicated LEGO sets, it’s evident that passionate fans are more than willing to invest effort into materializing their creative visions. The Pokémon community frequently showcases exceptional pieces crafted from a multitude of unexpected mediums. While LEGO builds inspired by Pokémon are increasingly common, the unique ingenuity required for each project continues to inspire enthusiasts, sparking a culture of innovation and creativity.
