Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver Remasters Leak Before Announcement and Launch This Year
The upcoming PlayStation State of Play event is just hours away, but it appears that an exciting announcement has already been leaked. Over two decades since the last entry in the franchise, the action-adventure vampire series “Legacy of Kain”is making a comeback. The leak indicates that remastered versions of “Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver”are set to be released to commemorate the series’ 25th anniversary.
This information surfaced from a now-removed PlayStation Store listing (via ResetEra) that featured remastered versions of “Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver”and “Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2”. While the store page has been taken down, the trailer remains accessible on Sony’s servers by following this link.
The trailer indicates that the original developer, Crystal Dynamics, in collaboration with Aspyr—known for porting titles like “Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection”and “Tomb Raider I–III Remastered”—is handling this remaster project.
Here’s a glimpse of the experience described on the now-removed store page:
Experience the Legendary Narrative. Centuries after your former master, Kain, betrays and executes you, you rise again and embark on a relentless quest for revenge.
Wield the Powers of a Wraith. Slay your former vampire brethren using your claws, bolts of telekinetic energy, and the elemental Wraith Blade. Grow stronger by devouring the souls of your enemies. Shift Between Realms. The Elder God has granted you the ability to transition between the Spectral and Material Realms. Navigate these realms to solve intricate puzzles, unveil new paths, and conquer your foes.
The remastered versions are expected to allow players to switch between the original and newly updated graphics, enabling flexibility in their gaming experience while taking advantage of modern platform features.
According to the leaked information, the “Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered”bundle is set to launch on December 10, 2024. The leak primarily mentions PlayStation 4 and 5 versions, but it’s anticipated that additional platforms like PC and Xbox will be disclosed during the official announcement.
