- Focus Sash and Leftovers: New Pokémon Tool cards may soon be introduced in Pokémon TCG Pocket.
- Visual Hints: A Chimchar-themed backdrop has surfaced in the game shop, suggesting potential future expansions.
- Gameplay Implications: The introduction of these cards might alter strategy, particularly with Leftovers enhancing stall tactics.
Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket may be on the brink of unveiling two exciting Pokémon Tool cards, Focus Sash and Leftovers, based on current fan speculation. Although there has been no official announcement from the developers, the anticipation surrounding the game hints at potential additions to the gameplay.
Recently, over 150 new cards were introduced with the Space-Time Smackdown expansion, which rolled out between January 29 and 30, 2025, varying by time zone. This expansion highlights Generation 4 Pokémon and introduces new mechanics, with booster packs featuring Palkia and Dialga now available for players.
Among the mechanics added are Pokémon Tools — trainer cards that provide unique advantages when attached to active or benched Pokémon. Currently, players can utilize tools such as Lum Berry, Giant Cape, and Rocky Helmet. However, a theory proposed by Reddit user ZanderAndBass suggests that Focus Sash and Leftovers may soon join this lineup. In the physical card game, Focus Sash prevents the player’s Pokémon from being knocked out at full health, while Leftovers heals the Pokémon by 20 HP at the end of each player’s turn.
Anticipating Focus Sash and Leftovers in Pokémon TCG Pocket
This speculation gained traction after a Chimchar backdrop was introduced in the game’s Limited Time/Events shop on February 7 for the ongoing Pokémon TCG Pocket Wonder Pick event, which concludes on February 21. The backdrop features a stylized depiction of Chimchar, surrounded by symbols including an apple core, a belt, and a bunch of bananas, which are believed to represent Leftovers, Focus Sash, and Nanab Berry, respectively. While the physical game does not currently include a Nanab Berry card, this could indicate that the other two items might soon make their presence felt in upcoming expansions.

As Leftovers potentially join the game roster, many players express concerns about the increasing prevalence of stall strategies in Pokémon TCG Pocket. The efficacy of such tactics is evidenced by the high usage rates of decks centered around Pokémon like Druddigon, along with newly introduced high HP contenders such as Regirock and Registeel. These Pokémon can sit in active slots and absorb significant amounts of damage, while bench-sitting cards gather energy and evolve, aggravating the gameplay for opponents. The addition of Leftovers could further amplify these stall strategies, prompting mixed reactions from the player community.
