Upcoming Nintendo Direct: February 4 or 5, 2025
- Anticipation builds around a possible Nintendo Direct on February 4 or 5.
- Speculation regarding a February 2025 Nintendo Direct has been growing for some time.
- The upcoming presentation is expected to showcase the 2025 game lineup for the Nintendo Switch, primarily focusing on third-party releases.
New evidence suggests that the next Nintendo Direct may be scheduled for February 4 or 5, highlighting what could be Nintendo’s last general Direct focused solely on the current Switch console prior to the anticipated Switch 2.
Typically, Nintendo provides just a day’s notice before announcing its Direct events. However, an exception occurred on January 16, when the company planned a Direct event two and a half months in advance, specifically centered on their next console. Reports now indicate that another Direct—this one dedicated to the Switch—might be on the horizon.
The legitimacy of this speculation has been supported by Nintendo’s maintenance schedule. A recent update showed that the Switch’s user data and save file transfer services will undergo maintenance on February 4 from 8:30 PM to 10:30 PM PT. As pointed out by Famiboards user King, these maintenance periods have historically coincided with Direct broadcasts. For example, the general Directs in June 2024 and September 2023 took place following similar maintenance schedules. Notably, the September 2022 Nintendo Direct was held just a day after a maintenance window. This pattern further reinforces the possibility of a Direct occurring on February 4 or 5.

Rumors Surrounding the February 2025 Nintendo Direct
Although Nintendo’s maintenance schedule is not a guaranteed predictor for all Direct events, preliminary hints have surfaced about a general presentation taking place in February 2025. Notably, journalist Pedro “PH Brazil”Henrique Lutti Lippe has claimed this, building upon his previous insights that correctly identified the Switch 2’s release timeline as shifting to 2025, contrary to earlier expectations of a 2024 launch.
If the February 2025 Nintendo Direct occurs, it is likely to spotlight the upcoming game lineup for the Switch. One of the standout titles is expected to be Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which is among the final major first-party games confirmed for the console. On the other hand, information regarding Pokemon Legends: Z-A, another confirmed title, is not anticipated until the rumored Pokémon Day 2025 Presents on February 27.
Industry analysis suggests that Nintendo may be reserving a substantial number of unannounced first-party games for the Switch 2, indicating that the forthcoming Direct could largely showcase third-party titles instead. Furthermore, Nintendo’s schedule for promotional events implies that the next console may not be released until at least June 2025.
