The anticipated performance metrics for the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU have surfaced, suggesting it may rival NVIDIA’s RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080 Super especially in ray tracing scenarios.
Performance Insights: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU Tested in Cyberpunk 2077 and Black Myth: Wukong
Recent leaks hint that the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT could potentially match the performance of the RTX 4080 Super, confirming previous speculation. For those keeping pace with the developments around the RX 9070 XT, these latest revelations add to the narrative of its capabilities against both its predecessors and competing NVIDIA GPUs.
One notable leak emerged today from a Chiphell forum member named Napoleon, who shared benchmarking results of the RX 9070 XT across two popular games—Cyberpunk 2077 and Black Myth: Wukong. Despite the eventual deletion of the thread, we have retained access to the key findings through shared screenshots.
The benchmarks were conducted with ray tracing enabled and upscaling turned off. Here are the frame rates observed:
- 1080p: 85 fps
- 1440p: 52 fps
- 4K: 26 fps
When comparing these figures to the RTX 4070 Ti, the performance appears to be largely similar, factoring in a slight margin for error. The RTX 4080 Super, however, exhibited about 19% better performance at 1080p, 25% at 1440p, and 23% at 4K. The following table summarizes the performance metrics:
Further testing showcased the RX 9070 XT being closely aligned with the RTX 4080 Super in another title, where the frame rates were recorded as follows:
- 1080p: 97 fps
- 1440p: 73 fps
- 4K: 30 fps
This translates to a performance difference of approximately 2-10% compared to the RTX 4080 Super, with the gap becoming more pronounced at higher resolutions. In a head-to-head against the RTX 4070 Ti Super, the RX 9070 XT proved to be around 7-11% faster in this scenario, reinforcing the impressive native performance metrics being reported.
While these results are exciting, it’s important to maintain a degree of skepticism, particularly due to the lack of verifiable evidence supporting these claims. With approximately ten days remaining until the official release of the RX 9070 XT, we may anticipate additional leaks that could provide further substantiation for these benchmarks.
Update: Note that the benchmark results for Black Myth were without ray tracing enabled; necessary corrections have been applied to the earlier assertions.
