Leaked News: Major Xbox Franchise May Arrive on Switch 2 and PS5

Upcoming Releases of Halo and Microsoft Flight Simulator on PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2

  • Reports suggest that both Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 are slated for release on PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2.
  • These anticipated versions are expected to launch in 2025.
  • Industry insiders hint that a greater number of first-party Xbox titles will transition to multi-platform releases this year.

According to credible reports from renowned industry insiders, Halo: The Master Chief Collection may soon be available on both the PS5 and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. This development aligns with ongoing discussions about expanding Microsoft’s portfolio of multi-platform games.

Since February 2024, Microsoft has strategically increased its efforts to introduce first-party titles to non-Xbox platforms. Initial releases included notable titles such as Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves. Additionally, As Dusk Falls is sometimes included in this multi-platform list due to its prior Xbox console exclusivity. In October 2024, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was made available on other platforms, while the highly anticipated Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is expected to debut on PS5 in spring 2025.

Sharing insights during the January 10th episode of his podcast, insider NateTheHate indicated that the classic Halo: Master Chief Collection is being prepared for a port to both the PS5 and Nintendo’s latest console. These new adaptations of the beloved six-game compilation are projected for a 2025 release.

Will Microsoft Flight Simulator Join the Multi-Platform Trend?

NateTheHate has also expressed confidence that Microsoft Flight Simulator is on track to join this multi-platform trend. While he did not specify which installment would be involved, it is likely that he was referring to MFS 2024, which launched on November 19, 2023. Similar to the anticipated ports for Halo, the latest iteration of Microsoft Flight Simulator could make its way to PlayStation and Nintendo consoles in 2025.

Expanding Horizons: More Xbox Games Going Multi-Platform

Adding to the momentum, another veteran Microsoft leaker, Jez Corden, corroborated these insights by asserting that even more Xbox titles are expected to be released on PS5 and Switch 2 this year. Corden’s prediction reinforces a growing perception that the era of exclusive Xbox console titles is drawing to a close.

Additionally, the Call of Duty franchise is highly anticipated to expand its availability across platforms. In an effort to finalize the Activision Blizzard acquisition, Microsoft made commitments to ensure that Call of Duty games would be accessible on Nintendo consoles for the next decade, a deal originally established in late 2022. However, consumer expectations for these titles on Switch have yet to be fulfilled, likely pending the arrival of the Switch 2, which promises enhanced capabilities for modern military shooters.
