Leak Reveals ASUS and Gigabyte’s Upcoming AMD B850 and B840 Motherboards
Today, exciting news emerged as a comprehensive leak unveiled several ASUS and Gigabyte motherboards featuring AMD’s B850 and B840 chipsets. A total of eight distinct models were showcased, highlighting their form factors, unique designs, and impressive onboard features.
Overview of AMD’s AM5 Chipset Lineup
AMD’s AM5 series encompasses a range of 800-chipset motherboards. While the X870 and X870E models were officially launched alongside the Ryzen 9000 CPUs, anticipation builds for the remaining motherboards in the 800 chipset family, which are expected to make their debut in early 2025.

Although fans may have to wait until early next year to get their hands on these new products, helpful insights have already surfaced. Leaked images of various B850 and B840 motherboards from ASUS and Gigabyte provide an intriguing glimpse into what is to come. Details of ASUS Motherboards
The leak features three ASUS motherboard models, showcasing the B850 and B840 chipsets:
- ASUS ROG Strix B850-A Gaming WiFi
- ASUS TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi
- ASUS PRIME B840M-A-CSM
The ROG Strix B850-A and TUF Gaming B850 models cater to mid-range and budget markets, respectively. Both motherboards feature the same chipset, supporting both Gen 5 and Gen 4 speeds for PCI-E slots. In contrast to the X870/X870E, these models will offer USB 3.2 20 Gbps ports instead of the requisite USB 4 connectivity found in the higher-end models.
The ROG Strix variant boasts 2 PCI-E x16 slots, 4 DIMMs, 4 M.2 ports, and a pristine white PCB adorned with RGB lighting in the I/O shroud. On the other hand, the TUF Gaming model is designed with an all-black aesthetic and incorporates 2 PCI-E x16 slots, 2 PCI-E x1 slots, and 2 M.2 ports, also with 4 DIMMs but smaller heatsinks compared to the ROG model. Both designs offer similar connectivity options, including wireless capabilities.
Meanwhile, the PRIME B840M-A-CSM targets entry-level builds with features that include Gen 3.0 speeds for M.2 and PCI-E x16 slots. This micro-ATX motherboard provides 4 DIMMs, 2 M.2 slots, 3 PCI-E x16 slots, and 4 SATA ports, making it a solid choice for budget-conscious users.
Gigabyte Motherboard Models Exposed
In addition to ASUS, Gigabyte’s leak includes five B850 chipset motherboards from various families, namely AORUS, Eagle, and Gaming:
- Gigabyte B850 AORUS Elite WiFi 7 (Black)
- Gigabyte B850 AORUS Elite WiFi 7 (White)
- Gigabyte B850I AORUS PRO
- Gigabyte B850 EAGLE WiFi6E
- Gigabyte B850 GAMING WiFi6
The AORUS line appears oriented towards the mid-range segment, with the AORUS Elite WiFi 7 models available in two distinct color themes.
