Leaked Identifier ‘T8132’ for Upcoming MacBook Air with M4 Chip: Major Performance Improvements, Same Design Expected Soon

Apple is poised to introduce a revised version of the MacBook Air, featuring enhanced internal components while retaining the familiar design of the current model. Initially rumored for a launch during Apple’s Spring event in April, reports now suggest that the unveiling of the MacBook Air, equipped with the new M4 chip, will occur sooner than anticipated. Fresh evidence indicates that Apple is not planning to delay the release of its latest machines.

Upcoming MacBook Air Launch: New Evidence Emerges

Reports indicate a significant decline in stock levels for Apple’s MacBook Air and iPad Air at retail locations globally. This situation has fueled speculation that the company is preparing to release new versions of these devices in the near future, as a tight supply typically signals an impending product launch.

A private account on X has uncovered identifiers associated with the upcoming MacBook Air models, confirming they will incorporate Apple’s M4 chip. As reported by MacRumors, this source revealed that both the 13-inch and 15-inch variations of the MacBook Air will feature the “T8132” chip identifier. This M4 chip is already utilized in the latest MacBook Pro models as well as the OLED iPad Pro series.

Additionally, Apple inadvertently disclosed files related to the unreleased MacBook Air during the rollout of the macOS 15.2 update. References to “Mac16, 12″and “Mac16, 13″correspond to the M4 variants of the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models, respectively. Continuous leaks and speculation have suggested a timely launch for these devices, although it seems unlikely that this will coincide with a formal event, as the designs are expected to mirror those of the existing models.

Internally, the M4 MacBook Air models are expected to feature significant upgrades that will improve connectivity and performance. While specific performance metrics remain unclear, it is anticipated that the computational and graphical enhancements will not match those found in the M4 MacBook Pro, primarily due to the absence of advanced thermal solutions.

Furthermore, it is expected that the M4 iPad Air will be unveiled alongside the new MacBook Air models, moving away from the M3 chip, aligning with the advancements seen in their ‘Pro’ counterparts. There are also rumors about the introduction of an entry-level iPad. If all goes well, these launches may coincide with the eagerly awaited iPhone SE 4. We will continue to provide updates as more information comes to light.
