Benchmark results for the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT “RDNA 4″GPU have surfaced in the Geekbench database, revealing that its performance lags behind the RX 7700 XT, which is based on the previous RDNA 3 architecture.
Overview of the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT GPU
The Radeon RX 9060 XT is positioned as AMD’s primary offering for mainstream gaming within the RDNA 4 family. It will be available in two configurations: a 16 GB version, priced at $349, and an 8 GB version, retailing for $299. A recent Geekbench test focused on the 16 GB variant, but first, let’s delve into its specifications.
Specifications and Features
Utilizing TSMC’s advanced 4nm process technology, the RX 9060 XT aims for exceptional clock speeds, boasting a remarkable boost frequency that reaches up to 3.13 GHz. This makes it the first GPU to achieve such impressive base speeds. Anticipated custom models might operate at frequencies close to 3.2 to 3.3 GHz, and the card has a Total Board Power (TBP) rating of between 150W and 182W, depending on the VRAM configuration.

The RX 9060 XT’s memory setup includes options for both 8 GB and 16 GB with a 128-bit bus interface. The card uses GDDR6 memory with a speed of 20 Gbps. Although this configuration is akin to the RTX 5060 Ti, competitors have already transitioned to faster GDDR7 memory technology. Despite initial rumors suggesting AMD might scrap the 8 GB variant due to the unfavorable reception of NVIDIA’s similar offerings, it appears both models will proceed as planned.

Benchmark Performance
In the OpenCL benchmark, the RX 9060 XT achieved a score of 109, 315 points. This figure is indicative of a 31% increase in performance over the RX 7600 XT’s score of 83, 313, yet it falls 14% below the RX 7700 XT, which demonstrates the competitive nature of the current graphics card market.

Similar trends were observed in the Vulkan tests, where the RX 9060 XT outperformed the RX 7600 XT by 25%, yet underperformed by 12% compared to the RX 7700 XT—both competitors hold similar price points in the current market landscape.
The testing environment utilized an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU combined with 32 GB of DDR5-8000 memory. Notably, the GPU recorded a maximum frequency of 2787 MHz, which is below the expected 3 GHz+ boost frequency. With these factors in mind, we anticipate that the RX 9060 XT should rival or possibly surpass the RX 7700 XT in gaming scenarios, though patience is warranted for forthcoming official benchmark releases expected early next month.

AMD has positioned the Radeon RX 9060 XT with 16 GB as a direct competitor to the NVIDIA RTX 5060 Ti, emphasizing its attractive price point that undercuts even NVIDIA’s 8 GB model.
