Leaked Apple ‘Vision Air’ Power Cable in Midnight Blue Reveals Major Redesign Different from Vision Pro

Apple is gearing up to launch a more affordable variant of the Vision Pro headset as part of its strategy to strengthen its foothold in the augmented reality (AR) market. Recently, we provided insights into the company’s upcoming Vision Air, detailing some of its distinctive physical features compared to the premium model. Today, images of the prototype’s power cable surfaced online, revealing noteworthy differences from the Vision Pro’s cable.

Insights into the Leaked Vision Air Power Cable in Midnight Blue

According to a leak from Kotsunami, the Apple Vision Air is expected to feature a sleeker design than its Pro counterpart. The company’s strategic choice to transition some internal components to titanium, including the battery enclosure, aims to significantly reduce the device’s weight. While it will still feature an aluminum casing, the coloration will depart from the existing ‘Pro’ palette.

The leaked images of the Vision Air’s power cable reveal a captivating dark bluish-black shade, reminiscent of the color scheme found in the MacBook Air. It appears that Apple is distinguishing its ‘Air’ lineup by reserving this striking color for less premium products, in contrast to the silver that exclusively adorns the current Vision Pro.

However, the Vision Air’s power cable presents some technical deviations from the Vision Pro. Notably, the ‘Pro’ version uses a 12-pin power connector, while the leaked prototype reveals that the Vision Air utilizes an 8-pin connector. This modification may reflect the expected lower power consumption of the device, although no further technical specifications have emerged at this stage. Additionally, the redesign will encompass the external battery pack, while the audio connector appears to maintain continuity with the existing Vision Pro model.

Upcoming Releases and Market Expectations

Apple plans to unveil the second-generation Vision Pro equipped with an M5 chip either later this year or early next year. In the interim, there is substantial speculation regarding the budget-friendly ‘Air’ model. If Apple aligns its timeline favorably, we could witness the announcement of the Vision Air alongside the new Vision Pro 2. Would you consider investing in the Vision Air if its price point is set at $2, 000?
